Passion for Italy Podcast #22 Positano and Capri, Heaven on Earth

This is the third part of the recent Joe and Lori trip to Italy.

    Naples Train Station

An adventure with a private transfer

    An abbreviated Pompeii trip

Positano: Buca di Bacco, L'Incanto, Le Tre Sorrelle, La Pergola, Cafe Positano, the beach, the stairs, plenty of food, wine, shopping, and gelato.

Capri: the day trip there was worth the trip!

The best experience with a private transfer we have ever had...

The Sneaky Sponsorship Deal At Kourtney & Travis' Wedding

The Sneaky Sponsorship Deal At Kourtney & Travis' Wedding

    On the show today…

The TV show we've all been waiting for is nearly here, with a new trailer and release date finally confirmed for Everything I Know About Love, based on Dolly Alderton's beloved memoir of the same name.

And this week, a Mission Impossible trailer leaked and was very quickly removed from the internet. It's just the latest in a long line of gaffes involving Tom Cruise blockbusters, but somehow, the action star continues to land on his feet.

Plus, it's the wedding event of the year. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have wed (again) in a lavish Italian ceremony, with all the glitz and glam you'd expect from a Kardashian marriage. But the Catholic theme of the event has raised some eyebrows, and possibly hinted at a sponsorship deal worth millions.

    THE END BITS

Passion For Italy Travel Podcast #13: A Day at the Beach Italian Style!

The 15th day of August is a national holiday to celebrate Ferragosto or Assumption Day. In 18 BC, Emperor Augustus declared August 1st a day of festival to thank his workers and give them time off to recharge by the sea. Often the festivals were marked by celebratory games such as horse races, like the famous Palio in Siena. Later, the date was moved to the 15th of August to coincide with the Catholic Feast and the Assumption of Mary.

Episode 7: Positano, Italy; Virtual Visit with Allison
As summer inches closer many of us have had to cancel travel plans to Italy, myself included to Positano on the iconic Amalfi Coast. As travel designers, we know how much time and care goes into planning every moment of a trip to Italy, so we understand that the disappointment cuts and it cuts deep. I thought I would share a bit about one of my favorite summer destinations in Italy in the hope that it will keep your travel dreams company and inspire you to look ahead and plan for next summer. So, let us take a virtual visit to a place near and dear to my heart - the iconic fishing village of Positano on the Amalfi Coast.

Amalfi, Campania Continued.....Walking adventures in Positano, Minori and Real Life

Welcome to Episode #10 Amalfi, Campania and the joys and discoveries up in the terraced hillside of Pogerola, Italy.

Certainly this recent podcast had me juggling the creative life and the realities of living in Australia at the end of 2019.  However, I was more than happy to share the days in Amalfi and pages from my book  ‘In the Shadow of a Cypress’ in podcast land.....

Amalfi was a collection of rich moments.  The architecture, the history, the location, the sea and the shades of colourful umbrellas on the beach at Positano certainly captured my spirit.  Moments only a traveler who is open to a little coastal magic can have.

This episode shares days in the village of Amalfi, Positano and Minori until the inevitable return back to Rome for the last part of the journey.  Andiamo......

Francesco Amodeo Owner of Don Ciccio & Figli distillery specializing in Italian liquors

Francesco Amodeo Owner of Don Ciccio & Figli distillery specializing in Italian liquors

On this episode of DC Entrepreneur, George speaks to Francesco Amodeo the owner and president of Don Ciccio & Figli on location at his distillery in Ivy City. The establishment, which features both a production facility and tasting bar, is bringing amari-based craft cocktails to DC based on recipes from Amodeo's family from the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Amaro drinks are bitter herbal liquers commonly consumed as digestifs.

From Don Ciccio's website: Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Amodeo began his journey in the hospitality industry as a young boy growing up in the small town of Furore, Italy, a quaint, tight-knit hamlet of just over 800 residents. With an extended family supplying the town with its most celebrated chefs, winemakers, and artisanal liqueur makers, Amodeo became an epicure at a young age, and began his life-long love affair with hospitality.

Deciding to follow in his family’s footsteps, Amodeo got his first job at the age of 14, working under the mentorship of Marisa Cuomo, one of Italy’s most respected winemakers. He continued his apprenticeship at his uncle's restaurant in Positano. Uncle Amodeo soon pulled young Francesco behind the cocktail bar, and in that moment, an Amalfi Coast alchemist was born. He had found his true calling in hospitality, and Francesco continued his tutelage at the town’s only resort. At Furore Inn Resort young Amodeo came of age, and received many specialized certifications of his expertise.

In 2004, he became a Master of Food and Beverage Management, but not before his certification as a Master Sommelier for the A.I.S. of Napoli, Italy. He is a Master Barman through the A.I.B.E.S. of Salerno too. In the spirit of adventure, Francesco travelled to Washington D.C. in 2005. Seeing its potential as an epicurean capital, he decided to return in February 2006 to make D.C. his home.

Francesco became prominent in the evolving hospitality scene, lending his expertise to notable establishments including Butterfield 9, Hook, Café Milano, and Bibiana Osteria Enoteca. But there was something else stirring in his blood. Francesco began to research and experiment with handcrafted liqueurs in his free time. With over a century of family history in the business, at the age of 29, Francesco started Don Ciccio & Figli. His vision: to bring the signature flavors of his hometown back to life, and share the artisanal ‘Rosoli’ with the world.
