    God's Deliverance | A Sermon on Psalm 71 | Grant Welch

    God's Deliverance | A Sermon on Psalm 71 | Grant Welch
"Remembering God's deliverance in our past, allows us to trust Him in our present and in our future." The Bible contains a book called Psalms. It is a collection 150 musical poems written by (at least) 8 authors. The book captures the range of human experience like no other piece of literature. There's a Psalm for every situation. It describes joy and sadness, hope and doubt, success and failure. In the midst of the emotional expressions, the Psalms point us to God. This is a series of sermons delivered by guest preachers on their favorite Psalm. Impacted? Let us know: https://Creekside.Me/Respond Miss a sermon in this series? Can I just say that, once again, I have been pleasantly surprised to find in the Psalms a most excellent example of a teaching of Jesus? Yes, a teaching of Jesus and one from James. The teaching of Jesus is that of having troubles in this world but to be of good cheer found in John 16:33. And the one from James is that trials should be considered pure joy as they help produce perseverance, which brings about spiritual maturity and complete faith, which is found in James1:2. Where do I find this here? Well, in this psalm…. Tell you what, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s first hear the psalm; then, we can chat.

Also, before beginning, this podcast is sponsored by our book, Psalms 1-72, A Simple Not Shallow Presentation. This book collects the Psalms heard on the Psalm Tuesday episodes. And it presents them in a manner that helps reveal the prayerfulness of the Psalms. That is exciting! I’ve provided a couple of links in the show notes for this episode. One to my website where you can learn more about this book and another to where it is located on Amazon.com, just for your convenience. So, go ahead and collect your copy today.

Also, there is a special and cool announcement at the end of this episode. I don’t want to make it now because I know you want to get into the Psalm.

So, for now, my name is Charles, and this is Psalm Tuesday here on the Simple Not Shallow Podcast. This podcast is for those who want a deeper faith and not an aggressively mediocre one. Psalm Tuesday is a series in which we will listen to a psalm being read in a manner that honors its original use as part of a worship service. Here in episode #100, we are listening to Psalm 71.

So, grab yourself some coffee, and let’s get started.

Pslam 71 Reflections, 5 Years Later After the Accident Ep 71

Pslam 71 Reflections, 5 Years Later After the Accident Ep 71

October 4th 2021 was the 5th anniversary of remembering David and my journey after my accident. It was a good day. I stayed active physically, emotionally and spiritually. I went on a hike, lit a candle, journaled, prayed and I praised God for bringing me this far. Psalm 71 is my battle cry, verse by verse it speaks over this very season of my life like an anthem. Fitting it would land on Episode 71. God is certainly good!

A Psalm By Someone for Everyone - Psalm 71

A Psalm By Someone for Everyone - Psalm 71

Based on Psalm 71, this Psalm is a reminder for everyone  that with God's help we can be useful in our old age and speak to the next generation about God's faithfulness even in the midst of sufferings . For those of us who are not there yet, it is  a reminder to cultivate a habit of recognizing God's presence while we are still young, determining to praise God in all circumstances, making personal preparations for growing old and getting acquainted with someone older and getting to know them better.
