    Not a Day; But a Way - Video

    Not a Day; But a Way - Video
    Many people are searching for a revelation, but more important than revelation is a realization. The realization of what God has already provided opens the door to the fullness of His blessings. One of the saddest portions of scripture comes in the parable of the prodigal son, where the older brother is angry about the feast and celebration of his brother’s return. The older brother never realized that all that his father had was there for enjoyment, but he never took advantage of the privilege he already had. As we enter the Thanksgiving week, please let us open our eyes and realize the glory and blessing we already have. Some form of the word thanks appears over 135 times throughout scripture. Thankfulness is part of living for God. Scientists and research show that an attitude of thankfulness can have positive physiological effects on our body. Gratitude is an essential element in the life of a successful and prosperous person. A thankful person is much more pleasant to be around. A thankful person will have fewer anxieties, lower blood pressure, and less stress. The story of the loaves and fish feeding the multitude teaches us that what we have in our hands is enough for God to meet the need. We simply have to begin with being thankful for what we already have. Thankfulness is so powerful that it will alter our life. Thankfulness implies that we realize that we are blessed. If we cannot be thankful for the things that God has already provided, He will not bless us with more. When we are thankful, we acknowledge that we are not responsible for our blessing. We are all here because of the mercy and grace of God. When we say thanks, we identify the source of our blessing. When we are thankful, we are also acting on that awareness. God has been too good to us for us to remain silent. It is not enough to know and think that we are blessed; we must open our mouths and proclaim that thankfulness. Thankfulness is not something that we can do for a day. It is an attitude we should have every day. Thankfulness is not for a day; it is a way of life.

    Psalms | Lectio Divina of Psalm 100

    Psalms | Lectio Divina of Psalm 100

    Welcome to our journey through the Psalms.  Today is our last episode for this season!  Today's Meditation is a Lectio Divina (scripture meditation, see the very first podcast for an explanation of Lectio Divina) of Psalm 100.  It's a reminder to ground ourselves in thanksgiving and gratitude.

    Psalm 100
    A psalm of thanksgiving.

    1 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
    2     Worship the Lord with gladness.
        Come before him, singing with joy.
    3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
        He made us, and we are his.
        We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
    4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
        go into his courts with praise.
        Give thanks to him and praise his name.
    5 For the Lord is good.
        His unfailing love continues forever,
        and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
