Hello and welcome to Quizbeard – I’m going to ask 25 trivia questions, themed over five subject rounds.  You can earn a point for every question you answer correctly and can also play a Black Spot card on any one round, doubling your score on correct answers there.  If you’re going to play your Black Spot, please try to do so before the first question in your chosen round has been asked, so all you have is the round title as a clue.

Everything is explained at the website, which can be found at Quizbeard.com, including an archive of all previous quizzes, links to social media, contact information and the quiz kit, where you can print out blank answer sheets and black spot cards for your own use.

If you’d like to nominate a subject to be covered in the quiz, please get in touch and I’ll give you a mention.  If you’d like to leave a review at Apple Podcasts, that would really help more people to discover and play the quiz, and you can support the podcast further by going to quizbeard.com/support.

New show announcement - CONTESTANTS REQUIRED!

With a working title of ‘Quizbeard’s Black Spot Challenge’, I'm working on a new weekly show, which will be different because it will feature interaction with a CONTESTANT.  You can see where this is heading.

Recorded over a Zoom call and released as an audio podcast, each contestant will face three rounds of five questions:

    • Round 2: The Mystery Envelope (2 points each)
    • Round 3: The Black Spot (3 points each)

    Total possible score: 30 points.

The ‘Mystery Envelope’ round will be five questions on a subject topic, selected at the time from a choice of three by the contestant. The ‘Black Spot’ round will be five prepared questions on a subject of the contestant’s prior choosing (think Mastermind’s specialist subject).

I’d like to record a fair few of these before pulling the trigger and releasing for download, so if anyone would like to take the Black Spot Challenge (or whatever it ends up being called) as a contestant, please register your interest by visiting quizbeard.com/blackspot

Big thanks this week go to everyone who responded to this afternoon’s call for help in choosing a round topic, I had some fantastic suggestions and will definitely do some of those in the future.  The one I’ve chosen is ‘Famous Butlers, so thanks to Craig McCauley for his suggestion.  Thanks also to Bevvo, the host of the fantastic ‘Quiz and Trivia’ podcast, who suggested a ‘Down Under’ round – coincidentally, I already had an ‘Australia’ round typed up for today’s show, so I’ve renamed it in honour of the suggestion – thanks very much for that.  If you’d like to nominate a topic for a round or submit some questions, please send me a message on any of the social media channels and you might get a shout-out in next week’s quiz.

Welcome back to Quizbeard, a quickfire trivia quiz of 25 questions over five subject rounds.  There are, of course 30 points to play for as you can nominate any one of the five rounds as the beneficiary of your BLACK SPOT card, which each of you automatically receive at the beginning of play.  Playing your BLACK SPOT means that you’ll receive two for one points on all correct answers in that round and that round only, so use it wisely as you have to declare your BLACK SPOT before the first question of that round has been asked.  A rundown of how to play can be found at Quizbeard.com/how, and you can also print your own answer sheets and BLACK SPOTS from the Quiz Kit page of the website, or more serious players might like to get hold of the Quiz Kit book, now available from Amazon.

The website also has plenty of information on how to subscribe to the quiz on various podcast players and, if you can, please leave a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen.  If you’d like to offer even more help, you can become a patron by visiting Quizbeard.com/support.  As a Patron of the show, you’ll receive a digital certificate of rank – either Lieutenant, Commander or Captain, depending on your tier, and all supporters will get exclusive online entry to the upcoming prize competitions feature that will be launching very soon.

Big thanks this week go to “Majikal” Mike Connell for submitting his round on Professional Wrestling, which is included as part of today’s show.  If you’d like to nominate a topic for a round or submit some questions, please send me a message on any of the social media channels and you might get a shout-out.
