Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast, Episode 180: Brett Davis, Jason Halterman

Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast, Episode 180: Brett Davis, Jason Halterman

Imagine cooking a steak that’s worth $10,000. We talk to the man who made that a reality on Episode 180 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast as Brett Davis joins us. Brett, of Springfield, Missouri, won the big prize at the High Steaks Showdown in St. Louis underneath the Gateway Arch after a unique final round as eight finalists grilled ribeyes inside a steel-cage called “Steaktagon.”

We also talk it over with one of the most-consistent cooks on the 2022 KCBS circuit. Jason Halterman from Can Country Outlaw has 14 overall top-10 finishes in 21 events and he does it with a distinctive style of using drum smokers in conjunction with his Outlaw stick burner. Jason tells us how he got into competition cooking and discusses the reason behind his inspirational, motivational stories he posts on Facebook.

Co-hosts Lyndal and Steve also recap their cooking weeks and take a look at Albert Pujols’ continued pursuit of 700 home runs. And what about Patrick Mahomes’ and the Chiefs’ demise after the loss of receiver Tyreek Hill? What a shame.

A big thanks to our great sponsor/marketing partners who make Season 4 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast possible: Blues Hog BBQ Sauce, Royal Oak Charcoal, The Butcher Shoppe, Iowa BBQ Store, Fergolicious BBQ, Affordable Financial Services, Arkassippi Smoke Live and The Arkassippi Combo, Pro Technology Solutions, Vietti Marketing, In the Garden of Eden and Marty “Sign Man” Prather and Domino’s.

Episode 26 -- The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals

Episode 26 -- The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals

The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals were such a remarkable story that two people who don't particularly care for them could tell the story without dwelling upon the phrase "devil magic." Their late season and postseason run conquering foes who appeared to be clearly superior on paper is the stuff of legend. They featured future Hall of Famers, grizzled veterans, young up-and-comers, and a few postseason legends who will never have to buy a beer ever again in St. Louis.

    Gregg & Michelle Episode #7

    Gregg & Michelle Episode #7

    In Episode #7:

Gregg and Michelle talk about getting fired from 97.1 FM.

And they discuss last weeks episode of GoT and look ahead to Sunday night's show.

A Tiger fan who caught Albert Pujols' 2,000 RBI home run ball won't give it back to the Angel's slugger.

The Chicago Cub have permanently banned a fan for a "racist" hand gesture.  BUT....was it racist or something much more innocent.

Michelle saw 73 year old Cher and thought it was great...GROSS.

Also, Courtney Love  on why Brad Pitt can't ever play Kurt Cobain?

    The People Vs. Mr. Met

    The People Vs. Mr. Met

In the baseball justice system, mascots are represented by two separate, but equally important groups- mascot police, who investigate crimes, and mascot attorneys, who prosecute rogue mascots and make them into bygone McDonald's characters. These are their stories. It's actually just the one. We also talk about some notable basebrawls, Pujols and Kershaw breaking records, the most forgettable no-no ever thrown, and we bring back "Better Know an Old-Timey Baseball Player", this time focusing on the notorious Lenny "Nails" Dykstra.

Listen to this episode if you want to talk about Royal Atrocities, Mid-Brawl Plunking, The Idiot's Arya Stark, Hunter Rushes In, Buster's Good Out Here, Volquez Gets Covfefe'd, and Robbing Lenny To Pay Lenny. @ThatBBShow on Twitter & please rate/review on iTunes, bro!

Mike, Nat and Dan have had the most football-packed week they've ever had thanks in part to the International Series game at Wembley; they've seen more games than Curtis Painter's had completed passes. Wait a minute...
