    Life as Ceremony, with Carolina

    Life as Ceremony, with Carolina

Raised by her grandmother in the mountains of Costa Rica, Carolina learned ancestral ways of healing from birth and gained insight into earth-based medicine. Her grandmother, Mamá, treated people for various ailments and set her on the path to bring healing to others. Though she doesn't heal the same way as her ancestors did, she sings to people's souls with the same compassion.

Carolina has studied indigenous bodywork, hands-on energy work, Tibetan Singing Bowl Therapy, and Hatha yoga, among other methods. After studying Music Therapy Techniques for Wellness at Berklee College of Music, she pursued Existential Wellbeing Counselling at the University of Leuven. She felt more confident in embracing her ancestral roots and incorporating the healing sounds she learned as a child. She aims to share the positive impact of sound healing and earth-based practices on the human body, including remapping brain pathways. She has been initiated in a Sacred Fire Ceremony as a Cacao ceremonialist, following the Maya Tradition and Cosmology, by Fire Shamans Tata Izaias Mendoza and Nana Izabel Pérez. She is also a carrier of the sacred fire of the Popochcomitl, bestowed upon her by Grandmother Ximena Vera Teototoltzin. She holds the sacred responsibility of channeling spiritual healing and honoring the rich lineage of The Q'ero of the High Andes of Peru.

EP 30: Part 1 - What is Power?

EP 30: Part 1 - What is Power?

For indigenous healers in both the Amazon and High Andes, power is the ability to hold space for good things to happen. To build and access power, healers must undergo a challenging, energetic, and spiritual refinement process that helps them bring powerful medicine into this world. In this episode, we discuss what power means in these traditions and how they compare to other traditions and religions that outline the path to power or enlightenment.

EP 29: How the Q'ero Perceive Energy

This episode discusses the genius of Q'ero's wisdom and healing tradition. The Q'ero Healing Tradition has simplified complex energetic and spiritual concepts to the bare minimum. It has established ways to bring their entire community effortlessly to higher levels of consciousness alongside mother earth and the sacred mountains. We cover how they see beyond the images and the symbols provided by our minds to translate energetic and spiritual phenomena, effectively seeing beyond these illusions and placing their finger on the pulse of reality at its most accurate source.

EP 24: The Difference Between Carl Jung's Work and the Work Pioneered by Traditional Indigenous Healers Regarding the Unconscious

EP 24: The Difference Between Carl Jung's Work and the Work Pioneered by Traditional Indigenous Healers Regarding the Unconscious

In this episode, we compare Carl Jung's work and the disciplines pioneered by Traditional Indigenous Healers in their efforts to work and understand the "unconscious," or what indigenous healers call the energetic and spiritual aspect of reality. We discuss that the main difference between these disciplines lies in their roots. On the one hand, Carl Jung's methods depend on the conscious side of life or the physical side of reality, where the intellect reigns supreme. On the other hand, indigenous healers have built their disciplines and methods using the very framework of the unconscious or the spiritual/energetic aspects of reality.

EP 18: Part 1 - What is Ayahuasca?

In today's episode, we build the foundation to understand what Ayahuasca is. EP 14: How are Traditional Indigenous Healers Expected to Help Us Birth Powerful New Medicines into this World?

Today's episode discusses how Traditional Indigenous Healers expect to see new, more potent medicines coming into this world. The more challenging our times get, the more powerful the medicines will need to be in order to bring about balance. The Q'ero expected to see new levels of mastery achieved in their healing tradition. They also expected new souls with unique energetics and gifts to enter our world. These new "medicines" in the form of people will need help being birthed and can sometimes come into this world with a rigid set of challenges meant to help them mature into their calling and purpose.
