La chanteuse Raye bat un record aux Brit Awards

La chanteuse Raye décroche un record aux Brit Awards. Samedi soir, la Londonienne a remporté six récompenses dont celle de la meilleure artiste et de l'album de l'année. C'est l'Info en plus de Nathalie Michet.
Ambassadrice d’un style hybride entre le R’NB et le jazz, l'auteure-compositrice et interprète Raye a remporté pas moins de 6 récompenses aux Brit Awards. C'est du jamais vu dans l’histoire de cette cérémonie.

Raye, c’est donc le diminutif de Rachel, Rachel Kaye à l’état civil. La carrière de cette artiste londonienne de 26 ans explose depuis l’an dernier. Pourtant, ça fait un moment que Raye fait partie de l’industrie musicale.

En 2019, on l’avait entendue en featuring sur un morceau de David Guetta, Stay, don’t Go Away.

Ce duo est un parmi tant d’autres. En effet, Raye a beaucoup prêté sa voix à des DJ et des producteurs. Elle a aussi écrit pour d’autres interprètes comme John Legend, Ellie Goulding ou Beyoncé. C’était déjà pas mal mais trop peu pour cette artiste complète qui rêvait de prendre son envol. Pour ce faire, elle a dû rompre avec son ancienne maison de disque Polydor qui refusait de lui produire un album solo.

Un blues qui cartonne

Ce changement aura été salvateur pour la jeune femme. Sorti l'an dernier, son premier album rencontre un succès majeur. My 21’st century blues, (Mon blues du 21e siècle), vient ainsi de remporter le graal des Brit Awards: le prix de l’album de l’année. Dans cet opus, on trouve notamment le single Escapism, en duo avec la rapeuse américaine, 070 Shake. Récit d’une nuit d’excès et de fuite en avant sur fond de cœur brisé, ce titre puissant a remporté le trophée de la chanson de l’année.

Meilleure artiste

Raye a également obtenu les Brit Awards de la meilleur artiste, de la meilleure nouvelle artiste, de l’autrice-compositrice de l’année et de la catégorie R’NB. Avec ces six récompenses en une seule soirée, l'artiste entre dans l'histoire de la cérémonie britannique. Avant elle, personne n’avait réussi à rafler autant de statuettes en une seule soirée. Blur, Adele et Harry Styles se partageaient le record précédent avec quatre Brit Awards en une cérémonie.

Bevor wir in unseren berühmt-berüchtigten Jahresrückblick-Januar starten, durften wir noch ein herrliches Interview mit futurebae führen. Sie hat gegen Ende des letzten Jahres ihr Debüt-Album »berlin love affair« (kurz: »BLA«) veröffentlicht, nachdem sie davor schon mit einigen Songs und Features in jeder gut sortierten Pop-Liebhaber:innen-Playlist vertreten war. Jetzt also das Debüt-Album als konsequenter nächster Schritt. Und völlig konsequent auch, dass futurebae bei uns Alben-Connaisseuren zu Gast war, um über die Tracklist, thematische rote Fäden und den erfrischenden Genre-Mix von »BLA« zu sprechen. Aber natürlich bombardieren wir die frisch von ihrer ersten Headline-Tour zurückgekehrte Künstlerin nicht nur mit nerdigen Musik-Fragen, sondern haben auch nach (gebrochener) Herzenslaune über alles gequatscht, was so gar nichts mit dem Album zu tun hat: Weihnachtsmärkte, neue Drink-Entdeckungen aus 2023, ihre überwundene Kaffee-Sucht oder Hate im Internet. Obendrauf bekommt Jan auch noch den Titel des "futurebae-Moshpit-Openers" verliehen, wir droppen zusammen das ein oder andere Airhorn und sprechen über die Musik von RAYE, SCHORL3 und Eli Preiss. Chad Bushnell's roots date back down his family lineage the past 4 generations made of cowboys and singers, some of which shared the stage with the late Bob Hope. Chad exudes the Americana spirit wrapped up into his lyrics and melodies. Chad continues to contribute to the western ranch world working closely with fellow Ranchers alongside his father, mother and sister Chelsey Bushnell (who is an accomplished roper and rodeo athlete) maintaining livestock while writing country songs. He has opened for Dwight Yoakam, Kris Kristofferson, Neil McCoy, Billy Currington, Mark Wills, Collin Raye, Mark Chesnutt, Jerrod Neimann, Exile and many others over the years. Last night, we said goodbye to Connagh after a turbulent recoupling - but we managed to get hold of him after he left the villa to ask him how he was feeling about being dumped. Arielle is looking forward to cheering him up when he comes on the podcast.

Rebecca choosing Luke T caused a bit of a chain reaction during the recoupling... was she right to choose the guy Siannise had her eye on, AGAIN? Do we feel sorry for her for being in another friendship couple? AND WHEN WILL SOMEONE COME IN FOR NAS?!
