    Author Interview with Dan Henk

    About Dan Henk
Dan’s early career included a year and a half stint drawing political cartoons for Madcap Magazine and illustrating underground projects such as Maximum Rock and Roll. In 1997, after struggling through a violent car crash and a knife fight with a crackhead that severed the tendon on his left thumb, he attended art school. Receiving some commercial and local gallery acclaim for his artwork, he moved to New York City in an attempt to kick start an art career. Heavily immersing himself in the local hardcore scene, he produced artwork for the bands Shai Hulud, Indecision, Koshari, Unsound, Coalesce, Most Precious Blood, Locked in a Vacancy, Beyond Reason, and Zombie Apocalypse, not to mention various local record labels and venues.

His first novel, The Black Seas of Infinity, was published by Anarchy Books in 2011, and he started an illustrated calendar featuring a variety of artists. Deadite Press released the first book with a cover by Dan, a novel entitled “The Sopaths” by Piers Anthony.
A limited edition chapbook “Christmas Is Cancelled” came out courtesy of Splatterpunk in 2013, and in 2014 he started columns for TAM, Tattoo Revue and Skin Art magazines.
A reissue of his debut novel was released by Permuted Press in April 2015, as well as a collection of his short stories entitled “Down Highways In The Dark…By Demons Driven” in August of the same year.

Dozens of Pickard's short stories have been published, including Hardwired, which won a Ray Bradbury Creative Writing Prize in 2005.

    Author Interview with Audrey Birnbaum

    Author Interview with Audrey Birnbaum

    Author Bio
Growing up in New York in the late 1960s, Audrey Birnbaum assumed that watching Holocaust documentaries was a perfectly normal family activity. On her first day of elementary school, Audrey sat in the cafeteria, unwrapped her liverwurst sandwich, and excitedly told her new classmates about her public television proclivities. Her Brady Bunch-watching peers had never heard of PBS, but they had heard of PB&J (and they weren’t too keen on liverwurst either). They made it abundantly clear: Audrey’s childhood was, in fact, not normal at all.

We will never know whether it was schoolyard bullying or watching tragic Shoah documentaries that was responsible for Audrey’s acute sensitivity to others; but that empathy may have helped pave the way for her choice of medicine as a career. Audrey chose to specialize in Pediatric Gastroenterology — for who needed more help than children; and where could anyone feel more suffering than in one’s gut? Day after day, she watched intricate family dynamics play out in the context of fragile health. Audrey listened to each patient’s story until she could retell it with clarity and give it meaning. Through witnessing and recording these tender dramas, the seeds of writing had been planted.

Those seeds took root when, shortly after her father’s death in 2018, Audrey stumbled upon his extensive notes detailing his childhood escape from Nazi Germany. Audrey felt compelled to start writing his riveting story – a story addressing themes that are pressingly relevant today. AMERICAN WOLF deals with tragedy and loss, while punctuating the triumph of the human spirit. It is a memoir of Holocaust survival, a family drama, an immigration tale, and an often funny coming-of-age story that is sure to have an impact on anyone who has experienced prejudice, displacement, or questions about their identity.

With her cherished medical career in the rearview mirror, Audrey now enjoys singing, writing, reading, and being with friends who also had quirky childhoods. She lives with her husband in Westchester County, New York, and has three marvelous grown children. Audrey is currently working on her second book.

    Author Interview with Sam Foster

    Author Interview with Sam Foster

    Sam Fosters Bio
My ancestral home is a dying little river port on the Illinois River. My father was, as the 60's country song tells, "Next of kin to the wayward wind." One result being that until I came to Los Angeles for college, I'd never lived for than two years in the same place in my entire life.

I was graduated in 1966 like every man in America who graduated that year I had a choice for my graduation trip - Canada or Vietnam. My antipathy to cold weather and a little of Socrates wisdom I'd picked up in college caused me to select the latter. So my first job out of college was with the U.S.M.C. A few years later I was honorably discharged after 5 months in a Naval Hospital with body and spirit reasonably intact.
I've always been a storyteller, but at twenty-four I was unwilling to "starve for art" and wanted disparately to find stability. So, I married, moved back to Los Angeles and dove into corporate America. It was not until I was in my mid-forties and a father of two with a house and a little money that I was brave enough to indulge my creative impulses.
The stories I've always liked best have more than a plot and couple of memorable characters, they also introduce me to an entire world I do not know. I write about things I know so I can show you worlds you may not. My first book was about a business hustle in Los Angeles. My second was about race in the U.S.M.C. during the Vietnam era. But this story, The American Trilogy, the one led you to read this bio, is about the America I grew up with and know well, whose history I understand better perhaps than its present, and which I will love until die.
The measure of a man is the things he's willing to die for. This story is about the things in America men have been willing to die for.

Author Interview with Christopher J. Lynch

Author Interview with Christopher J. Lynch

Christopher J. Lynch is the author of the ONE EYED JACK crime novel series about a professional blackmailer who operates in and around the South Bay area of Los Angeles. The debut novel in the series was a 2013 Shamus Award finalist, and a 2014 Writers Digest honorable mention for genre fiction.

He's also the author of, EDDIE: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF AMERICA’S PREEMINENT BAD BOY, the authorized biography of Ken Osmond, the iconic child actor who played the obsequious and conniving Eddie Haskell from the TV series Leave it to Beaver. The book is one of the highest rated celebrity biographies on Amazon.

His latest work, DARK STATE, is a modern-day thriller about a terrorist attack that takes down the California electrical grid. Most recently, after the twin attacks on electrical substations in North Carolina and Washington State, his phone began blowing up with messages from readers who told him that “Someone must have read your book, DARK STATE!”

Christopher believes in working with his fellow authors and has helped numerous aspiring writers achieve their dream by offering free self-publishing seminars. Not one to be limited to speaking in the comfortable settings of libraries or writing groups, he also taught writing in a maximum-security prison for several years. He even helped get one of the inmate’s books published on Amazon.

And finally, Christopher is an adventurer who has climbed some of the highest peaks in the world including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp. He also trained and led nine blind hikers to 10,000 ft. Mount Baldy, the third highest peak in Southern California. He’s also ridden his bike across Cuba, Alaska, and the American south. And, he’s flown on the zero G plane, aka: “The Vomit Comet.”
