Episode 272: A movieless Comic Con

Episode 272: A movieless Comic Con
What happens when all the major studios pull out of comic con? nothing really, it keeps going because comic con is more then movies and television. We also learned about some major Ubisoft shakeups, kart racers are making a comeback, and Sony's Project Q leaks. Plus Barbenheimer makes for the 4th biggest box office weekend, MOVIES are in fact back! Also due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA Strikes, i have dedicated some time talking about old movies, this week we have my favorite movies made in the 1950's.

    1998 (Part 1)

    1998 (Part 1)

It's time for one of those huge episodes. Well, it's a three parter anyways. 1998 was not a massive year for horror movies but if you are into J-Horror, Scream knockoffs and so so sequels is gonna be a bonanza for you. So many big budget also-rans as well... Jeez. But, what do I think was the very greatest horror movie that came out during 1998? Well, here we have the top 10. The worst 10. A slew of also rans. Some awesome mates. Some special guests. Several pints of beer and a 6+ hour running time split over 4 episodes. This is 1998, A Year In Horror.

It's a pretty long journey this one, part 1 of 4 in fact. I am going to give you the time codes below so if you don't want spoilers then, please, avert your eyes.

Below are the timecodes for all the different segments and my guest links. Feel free to let me know where you think I got it wrong or right and of course stay safe out there & I'll see you next month.

TWH Podcast Update Plus Writing Rear Window With Hitchcock and Hayes

We wanted to “jump on the mic,” as the kids say, and give you a Writers’ Hangout update.  Terry and I have been working on some projects that took our time away from recording, but we’ve been working behind the scenes on future episodes and are excited about hanging out with you soon. I miss you guys a lot.  In the meantime, here’s a favorite episode of mine and Terry's entitled; WRITING REAR WINDOW WITH HITCHCOCK AND HAYES.  Learn how a short story from a dime store magazine turned into one of the most discussed films produced in Hollywood and the fifth-grossing film of 1954.  The film REAR WINDOW, starring Jimmy Stewart, Grace Kelly, Raymond Burr, and Thelma Ritter, was written by John Michael Hayes and directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

    Kimi & Old

    Kimi & Old

In this week’s episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Steven Soderbergh’s Hitchcock-inspired techno-paranoia thriller, Kimi! Is the movie just another Rear Window wannabe, or something more? How accurately creepy is the threat of an all-knowing tech company? Also, Matt saw M. Night Shyamalan’s Old and the experience may have, coincidentally, aged him several years.

In addition to the movie discussions, Matt continues to be disillusioned with his secret career as a Script Doctor. Has the solution been right in front of him the entire time?! Listen now to find out!

You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Instagram and Twitter @alexharriscomix. Matt is a terrific artist that you can find on Instagram @no_wheres_ville. Tim can’t be found on social media because he doesn’t exist. If you have any questions or suggestions for the AIPT Movies crew, they can be reached at aiptmoviespod@gmail.com, or you can find them on Twitter @AIPTmoviesPod.

Ep. 49: 'The Voyeurs' continues the legacy of the erotic thriller, plus 'Kate' and the upcoming Netflix movie slate

In this episode, we are discussing two new movies that recently started streaming. First up, we talk about Amazon's 'The Voyeurs' and the continued use of Hitchcock's 'Rear Window' story in pop culture. Additionally, we discuss movie sex scenes, their function, and how the sexlessness of modern blockbusters affects the way we now view something like the erotic thriller. Then, we review 'Kate' and go over the upcoming Netflix streaming movie slate.
