    Unforgiven (1992)

Westerns are not as popular amongst movie-goers over the past 40 years ... but there is one that changed the way we look at the Wild West.  Clint Eastwood gave us Unforgiven. It's a film that turns the Western tropes of the past on its head.  It's a wonderfully written, acted, and directed film that blew everyone away.  It was nominated for nine Oscars and took home four.  Should it still be regarded as the best film of 1992? Check out Jack's analysis of this Eastwood-directed classic and hear which film he gives his Rewatch Oscar of 1992 to.

    Unforgiven

It's a hell of a thing, overanalysing Unforgiven, as Mark tries to figure out what makes the film the definitive revisionist Western, how it uses symbolism so powerfully, and if Bill might be nicer if people stopped constantly calling him 'little'.

    Phoolan Devi: Outlaw Law Maker

    Phoolan Devi: Outlaw Law Maker

Always outspoken against the patriarchy, in 1974 at age 11 Phoolan Devi is considered a trouble-maker. She is married off and sent several hundred miles away from her home in Ghura Ka Purwa, India. By age 17 she escapes her abusive husband and joins a gang of dacoits. She eventually forms her own gang and carries out Robinhood-type crimes.

In 1981, she survives an attack by rivals who beat, rape, and leave her for dead. She seeks revenge by executing her attackers in what comes to be known as the Behmai Massacre, and she is forced to go on the lam. But now she’s become a heroic outlaw figure of sorts—the underdog, the Bandit Queen— and she is protected by the lower castes. To many poor and brutalized women, Phoolan is a hero.

    Stephanie St. Clair: Harlem Gangster

    Stephanie St. Clair: Harlem Gangster

Some call it the numbers racket but true believers call it policy banking because the numbers games provide much needed cash flow for economic life in 1920s Harlem. Numbers kings abound, but there is only one Queen, Madame Stephanie St. Clair, a French Caribbean-born self-made black woman.

In the fall of in 1929, New York City police who’ve long taken a cut from the numbers queen, raid her house, rob, and arrest her to send a message. With the police pummeling her on one side and mobster Dutch Schultz, who has been eyeing St. Clair’s rising power and wealth pouncing on the other, most people assume Stephanie St. Clair will wave the white flag and bow out. But Madame St. Clair always fights back.

    Django Unchained

    Django Unchained
For our not-so-sweet sixteenth episode, the decision was made that a trip to Candyland was in order. Unfortunately, we saw less Lord Licorice than we did loquacious slave owners in Django Unchained, the much heralded revisionist western from cinematic provocateur Quentin Tarantino. Listen in as we discuss our least favorite film from a director whose work we otherwise love and the problems inherent in white artists attempting to tell black stories without the slightest bit of grace. American Truth Project with Graham Ledger of Daily Ledger show on OANN discussing the Lunatic Left destroying our history.

The American Truth Project, a non-profit (501c3) organization was launched because America’s national security is being threatened as never before. Our republic and the rights guaranteed by our constitution are facing dangerous new enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Our solution is to educate the public on the truths regarding critical security risks facing America, as well as our most strategic ally, Israel. There are few quality sources dedicated to this purpose.

Our team will investigate and reveal the factual nature and magnitude of these threats, and the best ways to address them. We, the people, have the right to know the truth. ATP is here to tell it.
