Hey Family, It was wonderful to see so many people at last week's Easter service. I hope that this will be a time of new spiritual growth for many of you. This week we continue with our new sermon series, BEGINNINGS. Last week we learned that we all have to start somewhere in our Christian walk.God meets us right where we are and, when we accept him as savior, we begin to walk alongside him. This week, we hear about a new beginning for a man people would never expect Jesus to even speak to, much less call as his disciple. It's just one example of how Jesus meets us where we are and takes us to places we could never even dream. I hope to see you Sunday at 10 a.m. Bring a family member or friend who is hoping to make a new beginning.

Hey Family, All of us struggle with this concept of being a good person. We tell ourselves that we're not that bad, we compare ourselves to people who are worse, we try to persuade ourselves with whatever evidence we have that we are good people... but this is a losing battle. Our goodness is not found in our actions, in our station in life, even with how many people we help. It's not found in anything we do but in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. So am I good? No. But there was one who was good for me, and it's his righteousness that I put on, and therefore I'm able to walk with head held high, not with shame, guilt, and regret, but walking in His goodness. Hey Family, Truth is not something in our culture that is elevated or celebrated. Far too many people play loose and easy with the meaning of "truth." But God in His word calls us to speak the truth, to walk in the truth, and to worship the truth, for He is the truth. Last week we started a series called THE WAR, in which we're learning about the defenses we've been given to fight the unseen forces that can ruin our lives. This week, come and hear how the truth really can set you free. I look forward to seeing you Sunday at 10 a.m.

"I feel like I'll never get past this issue . . . It's got me down . . . I'll never get victory over this area of my life". These are some of the common phrases people use when they feel that they just can't win against some hangup, addiction, or weakness in their lives. The fact is, we all deal with issues that we think will get the best of us and will just beat us every time. And we have proof, because we look at our past and see how we've done against these habits and hangups, and we feel like there will never be a time when we get great victory. God knows we're all going to experience this one way or another, so he's given us armor to be able to defend ourselves from the attacks of evil. Hey Family, This week we continue with our series titled Gods at War, which is bound to open your eyes. When we struggle with certain problems in life, we tend to focus on getting rid of the visible symptoms of trouble--cracks in our relationships, a lack of stability in our work life, feeling out of control in various situations. But what we're going to be learning over the next few weeks is that nothing will truly change until we look at the ROOT of the problem, not the FRUIT of the problem.

Hey Family, There are moments in my life when I ask myself a reflective question: What’s wrong with me? Many of us-- after falling into the same sin pattern, or terrible decision-making process, or mess up again-- ask ourselves this same question. We at The Recovery House of Worship are going to be addressing this very issue for the next few weeks. We will be getting to the root of why we do what we do. We will be looking at not only our actions but the underlying motivations of those actions. This is a hot topic for many of us, and would be helpful for the loved ones in our lives. Hey Family, These days we look out into the world and see so many things that seem just plain wrong. Political scandals, pain and suffering, and natural disasters seem to be everywhere, and we have to wonder: Why is the world the way it is? This week we're going to take a look at that topic. Not only why the world is the way it is, but also the remedy that can be a hope for us in all circumstances and stages of life.

Hey Family, I hope you were blessed by our series called God's Through Way. It was meant to help you face your doubts, guilt, anger and pain--not by stuffing your feelings or venting them and thinking that's enough, but by praying through the scriptures. Hey Family, I wonder if you've ever been in a situation where your anger is so white hot that you said things and felt things that later you regretted deeply. Anger is an emotion that rarely comes invited. And so we have to learn how to deal with this powerful feeling that generally catches us by surprise.

Hey Family, There are moments, events, and dates in our lives that we remember forever. Something happens to us in those moments that marks us, changes us, moves us to become better. Hey Family, When we first come to Christ, there's a temptation to live according to our old nature and not according to the gospel. This is true whether we're good little Christians, obeying everything that God has said in an effort to win his approval by our behavior--or if we're NOT so good little Christians, still living according to the sinful habits of yesterday and not enjoying the forgiveness and freedom that can be found in Christ. So every one of us needs to be reminded of the gospel and how to pray it into our souls so that we live more in line with the joy that is found in Christ, rather than our own "good ideas" of what will make us happy. I hope you have been blessed by our current sermon series, God's Through Way. We've talked about praying through our fears, our tears, and our doubts. In all of these situations Christ is with us. Hey Family, We are in the middle of a series called God’s through way. So far, we have talked about how Jesus is our constant companion as we grapple with our tears and our fears. This week we will learn about praying through our doubts.

Hey Family, We've just started a new series called "God's Through Way." When life throws something at us that we just don't know how to handle, God is there to walk us through it. Last week we looked at how we can get through our fears by praying for God's help, and we looked at Psalm 3. This week we'll be talking about how Christ is there with us when we are in emotional pain. When loss or grief threatens to overwhelm us, we can cry out to God by praying through our tears. Join us as we learn more about this on Sunday.

Hey Family, There are times when life hits us with a knock-out punch. Maybe the boss tells us our job is being eliminated. Or the doctor says, "I'm sorry, there's very little I can do."
