Rickey Medlocke- Guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd/ Icon of Rock & Roll/Native-American Songwriter

Rickey Medlocke- Guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd/ Icon of Rock & Roll/Native-American Songwriter

What learning the banjo at the age of 3 did for his career looking back. He started performing at that early age which led him to meeting the original Lassie and The Lone Ranger. He taught himself the guitar by age 5 and drums by age of 8. Who was his biggest influence and the advice he received from this person?
Rickey discusses how he landed with Lynyrd Skynyrd the first time as a drummer, songwriting, vocals and recorded the first and last album or the Muscle Shoals sessions.

A deep dive into his Native American Heritage and the issues that they deal with. Rickey goes into his feelings on how everyone can pay the respect that is deserved to Native people. He talks about the history and The Removal of Native American Act, casinos are not the answer, and the need for awareness. Do you know when Native American month is?

Rickey gives us his take on the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, and others. Why they have stopped answering questions about it, how he could have been on that flight, and where he was that night. Who and how he was asked to rejoin Lynyrd Skynyrd which got him $1.50 and a snickers candy bar?

A good story of opening for the band- KISS, how he will look back on his career, and his interaction with the fans.
