Boomer & Gio Poscast (WHOLE SHOW)

Boomer & Gio Poscast (WHOLE SHOW)

    Hour 1

Boomer said he got a lot of reaction on social media for having Frank the Tank on yesterday. Frank said the Mets have a bunch of 90 loss seasons coming their way. Gio said these days, if you say something bad against somebody’s favorite team on sports talk, they hate you. Gio said this offseason has been a dud for the Mets and David Stearns. We also talked about the Mets potentially trading Pete Alonso only to be brought back in the offseason. Jerry is here for his first update but first Gio tells us someone was murdered at the hotel he normally stays at in the city when he has to be in the city on a weeknight. We also wondered why teachers get a week off in February. Marcus Stroman talked about loving Brian Cashman now. Cashman said he’s a big gif guy and will send a lot of them throughout the day. Rob Manfred said he will retire in five years. Caitlin Clark became the all time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball. The Rangers won their sixth straight last night. In the final segment of the hour, MLB players are not happy with the Fanatics/Nike jerseys. They say they are cheap looking, inconsistent colors, bad stitching and bad fit.

    Hour 2

Gio thinks we are having a day when we can bring our dogs into work thanks to The Farmer’s Dog. CBS Sports Network is running commercials for an underwear company that features ‘ball hammocks’. The company is called Shinesty, and a bunch of people called in who are happy customers. Jerry returns for an update but first Gary Vee took the audio and video from our interview and turned it into a commercial without asking for permission. Rob Manfred gave 5-year notice that he’s leaving in 2029. Josh Hart told Mikal Bridges that it’s a Knicks town no matter how good the Nets are. Caitlin Clark became the all time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball history. The Rangers won their sixth straight. In the final segment of the hour, a Dua Lipa update.

    Hour 3

Boomer will not be going to the NHL Stadium Series. A caller wants to know what Boomer thinks of his new boss, George Soros. Gio explains Soros’ hedge fund buying 40% of Audacy’s debt. Boomer and Gio both said that the hedge fund wants to make money so it’s a good thing. We also wondered if the ARod day for Evan and Tiki is genuine or if it’s a bit. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Brian Cashman audio talking about competing for players to come to NY where we don’t have great weather like San Diego. Jalen Brunson talked about watching his dad grind as a player and how it helped him. Caitlin Clark became the all time NCAA women’s basketball scorer. Mike Zimmer met the media and said he’s got a reputation for being a jerk. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about guys who try to get stuff autographed just so they can sell it. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Caitlin Clark becoming the all time scoring leader for NCAA women’s basketball. Rob Manfred put in his 5-year notice and said he will retire in 2029. The Moment of The Day involves underwear that features a ‘ball hammock’. In the final segment of the show, does Eddie owe Spike an apology for mischaracterizing his politics.

GARLAND, KAGAN, BETRAY DEMOCRACY IN BIDEN PROBE AND AT SCOTUS - 2.9.24

SERIES 2 EPISODE 120: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN

A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: OK which atrocity do you want to get enraged about first?

The fact that yesterday I began by saying “today we begin to find out if we still have a Constitution” and turns out, sorry, I guess we don’t – and the three liberal justices are complicit in that?

Or, the fact that a partisan hack appointed by Trump managed to turn his nothing-burger investigation of Biden and the returned documents into Christmas-For-The-Fascists by inserting unwarranted, unjustifiable, indefensible opinions about the president’s memory into it and THAT’S the headline and oh by the way where is the goddamned Attorney General on this?

William Rehnquist's former clerk, Rod Rosenstein's former deputy, and a contributor to The Federalist has enough nerve finding nothing to prosecute but throwing into his report what sounds like a medical opinion about the President's memory but which is really just another Conservative law-breaker whipping out his schlong and putting it on the political scale. But how does the Attorney General let that document leave his department without demanding that irrelevant, unprofessional, indefensible section not be removed?

Fire Merrick Garland. Now. Between this and his negligence in waiting two years to appoint a special prosecutor of Trump, he will bear the second most blame if Trump again seizes power.

Meanwhile at the Supreme Court, disaster as Elena Kagan posits that enforcing the 14th Amendment gives one state the right to decide who the president will be, and Ketanji Brown Jackson falls for the "President is not really an OFFICER" fabrication. The analyst Elie Mystal thinks the vote could be 9-0 for Trump, in which case Kagan, Brown, and Sonia Sotomayor need to resign from the court.

B-Block (23:17) IN SPORTS: Ex-coach Tommy Tuberville blasts Biden's memory and says he needs cues from reporters and 30 seconds later he can't remember the names of the teams and players in Sunday's Super Bowl and needs cues from a reporter. And the Oakland/Las Vegas A's saga worsens, while invoking the Oakland/Denver A's saga of 1977-80. (27:20) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Sarah Palin is back! And can now see Russian propaganda from her house. If every GOP accusation is actually a confession, Charlie Kirk and Marjorie Taylor Greene's theory of anti-impeachment GOP'ers being blackmailed with pedophilia is SOME confession. And of all the idiotic takes on the Robert Hur investigation of Biden, THE dumbest is by Mr. Astead W. Herndon of The New York Bothsidesist Times and CN-Bothesidesist-N.

C-Block (34:32) FRIDAYS WITH THURBER: Since this podcast is one of five nominees for the best politics podcast at the upcoming iHeart Podcast Awards, it's fitting to read Thurber's great story of what happened when a rookie went on radio:
    "How To Relax While Broadcasting."

Reddit’s API Rebellion, Fan Power in Sports, and the Apple Vision Pro

Reddit’s API Rebellion, Fan Power in Sports, and the Apple Vision Pro

More than a week after Apple’s WWDC, communications professionals across the globe are evaluating Apple’s latest “one more thing” – the Apple Vision Pro. With a hefty price tag of $3,499, will businesses embrace the headset and utilize augmented reality for their day-to-day operations? What are the implications for communications professionals as we shift toward a world that embraces VR and AR?

Then, Austin and Thomas breakdown Reddit’s rebellion after a number of subreddits (forums) went dark as moderators attempted to hold the platform hostage over CEO Steve Huffman’s new direction on API access – potentially putting some apps like Apollo and others out of business.

The show wraps on the diamond by discussing the Oakland A’s “reverse boycott” with fans demanding that owner John Fisher sell the team due to his efforts to move the franchise to Las Vegas. The podcast analyzes what corporate comms and marketing pros can learn from international sports and how treating the fans/customers always pays dividends in the long run.

After reading the report on #maxscherzer sorry @jaymahanti but something is rotten in Denmark.  They gave him a shot to clean his hand and he came back with a stickier one.  10 game #mlb suspension which I had read he was going to appeal & just saw he accepted the suspension.  @mets won yesterday over @dodgers & #brandonnimmo went 5-5 with #homerun in 5-3 win.
