    Day Drinking Guitars Baguettes

    Day Drinking Guitars Baguettes
The guys debate which famous musician they would bring back from the dead. John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix are top of Jeremy's list. Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens would have achieved musical greatness in Jeremy's opinion. Stevie Ray Vaughn might have gone more jazz than blues. Jason ponders if there would have eventually been a "Jimi." Guitarist Cornell Dupree sets the vibe and Jeremy gives a Motown and R&B guitar lesson. The real meaning of "Bless your heart" Les Paul and his way too expensive 59's guitars. What is the Mona Lisa painting worth. Baguettes and wine are the topic du juor. Musical bucketlists and Brian Setzer. The brilliance of Joe Passe and Tommy Emmanuel. Jason has a fear of recording a solo album. New segment called What The Kids Are Listening To.

BOB HAWKINS - Decades of Gigging and Teaching as a Professional Guitarist.

People have to make decisions and commit. To be a successful professional within any career or endeavor requires incentive. I've talked with hundreds of guitarists but out of the many comes a couple that stay the course. Bob Hawkins is in the class of the few. To say you've done thousands of gigs and given thousands of lessons comes from the most staunch character type. There's just so much to consider. This interview with Bob Hawkins is revealing in that it sums up the drive needed to persevere with such a workload. This work is for the love of music but only for the brave.

Eddie Van Halen Tribute (Sort of)

Eddie Van Halen Tribute (Sort of)

Dave and Blair sit down to eulogize some old dude name Edward Van Halen.  That is sort of what it felt like when reading how much older Eddie was than the boys, but hey, 1955.  Damn.

In truth Eddie played a unique roll in Dave and Blair's life.  He hit when they were 12 and 12.  Imagine that.  What did you feel like at that age?  Someone who looked as crazy as Eddie and acted as weird as he did being the cool kid?  That was a fun break from the cool kid always getting the girl.

Oh, and Eddie could shred too.  You listen to guitar now and it has not progressed from a rock perspective.  That is a bummer because a lot of art has gotten better and better.  Rock from the 1950's?  Please.  We like it because it was unique.  Pat it on its head and send it along.
