Greg Peters: NZ Rugby League CEO on the possibility of Australia or New Zealand hosting 2025 League World Cup

France have withdrawn from hosting the 2025 World Cup tournament, as the organisers said they couldn’t meet financial guarantees for the risk of loss demanded by the French Government.

New Zealand Rugby League chief executive Greg Peters says they're definitely interested in hosting the tournament in New Zealand and Australia.

"It's a massive opportunity to create something really unique and special down here with our Australian colleagues and Pasifika element and respecting indigenous people on both sides of the Tasman too. Fantastic opportunity."

Greece at the Rugby League World Cup

Greece at the Rugby League World Cup

As Greece prepares to play in their first ever Rugby League World Cup, Tom and Nick sit down with the team’s Head Coach, Steve Georgallis from the North Queensland Cowboys, South Sydney Rabbitohs player Peter Mamouzelos, and Team Manager Terry Liberopoulos to talk about the journey to the historic moment. And boy was it a bumpy one. From playing games in secret to avoid the Police, to in-fighting, politics and everything in between, Greece’s road to Rugby League’s international centrepiece is worthy of a Hollywood script. But with committed Greeks in Australia, the UK and Greece all rallying together to make the dream a reality, Greece is – and will become – a Rugby League nation. This is the story exclusively on Ouzo Talk.
