    024 - The Definite Article

Which ageing rockers have still got it? Find out who we still rate now they've reached a certain age. How come certain band names are mispronounced, even by fans? Don't add the "THE" if it's not needed! Why does this happen?

We talk about bands which feature Pretenders guitarist James Walbourne. El Tele resumes his affair with the works of PG Wodehouse, in chronological order, and we discuss why some books don't "stick".. it's not always failing memory! The Captain digs into Bob Mortimer's biography, which coincided with the resumption of Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing.

YouTube "must sees" include Beatles recreators The Analogues, Rita Ora and a Kate Bush classic, and Joshua Lee Turner. El Tele checks out Stuff by Mark on Instagram.

    Running Up That Hill

    Running Up That Hill

An episode that took a week in the making, EstoBro and TV share their secret on how they influence watching their favorite movies and shows together with their significant others (5:35). It is clear that the Gents are both learning how nerdy and hilarious their better halves are, but that's the one of the guilty pleasure reasons why they keep them around. After the show formalities and recap of the Gents' week, especially how EstoBro spending Father's Day with his father (13:30). With the US Open happening over the same weekend, both Gents spent some time on the golf course and both share some funny moments that transpired during their outings. With major sports on the brain, EstoBro shares the release of the latest Nintendo title: Mario Strikers Battle League Football that dropped on the Switch earlier in the month (21:50). With a great deal of interest lingering between the Gents, there are some elements that EstoBro throws shade about Nintendo limiting this title to other elements that could enhance the fan experience of this game. With other nerdy elements that TV wants to acknowledge is the return of vintage music that shows up in popular television (33:25) and how it relates to other dynamics in culture. Due to Stranger Things returning over the summer, Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" has returned to the top charts in pop music. EstoBro even shares how much the song has influenced other elements of music, including being sampled in hip-hop and remixed in EDM tracks. Conversation on how music getting intertwined with sports shifts the conversation towards sports (44:00) first breaking down small elements of baseball, especially with the Tampa Bay Rays just playing the New York Yankees and other relative topics. EstoBro wants to hear TV admit how right he was about the Golden State Warriors returning to glory as they won their fourth NBA Finals in less than a span of a decade (50:00). This conversation sparks the debate of putting Stephen Curry as one of the greatest players of all time, including a conversation that bring to the attention that Curry is the player that has truly rivaled LeBron James during the two players careers. Returning back to golf, the Gents give their respect to Mat Fitzpatrick for winning the US Open (70:20), and also discuss the conflict the PGA is facing with LIV Golf taking away their competition. Discussion in the 'Who has the munchies?' segment turns the attention on EstoBro's experience with a personal chef cooking for his family for Father's Day (83:00). He also puts the chef on blast with the potential food truck he is opening in the near future, especially for what it could contribute to the future of the Chicken Sandwich Wars...

Kate Bush – Hounds of Love

Kate Bush – Hounds of Love

We’ve reached Cycle 5 of Aural Fixation, and what better way to celebrate than with a discussion on the woman that completes the quinfecta of Andy’s top bitches – the incomparable Miss Kate Bush.

A child prodigy with a penchant for dancing, karate and pianos, Bush released her first album The Kick Inside aged 19 (with some songs written when she was just a young teenager). From there, Bush parlayed her subsequent albums to firmly establish herself as British pop music’s sacred moonchild, before releasing her fifth studio album Hounds of Love in 1985.

Split into two sections; the first five tracks of Hounds of Love act as standalone tracks, with the remainder subtitled “The Ninth Wave” telling the story of… well, you’ll just have to wait and hear.

Our accompanying playlist to this episode tells the tale of Kate Bush and her many descendants from Imogen Heap and Tori Amos, to ANOHNI and Goldfrapp (all coming soon to the pod, we prom).
