Tony Williams: Driving Safety Instructor on the new speed cameras being installed in Auckland

Tony Williams: Driving Safety Instructor on the new speed cameras being installed in Auckland

There are hopes that the new speed cameras being installed in Auckland will change driver behaviour.

They measure the average speed a vehicle travels between two cameras and will only ticket drivers if the average speed between them is over the limit.

Research shows they can reduce road injuries or fatalities by more than 50%.

Driving safety instructor Tony Williams told Kate Hawkesby that the sophisticated cameras are likely to have an astronomical cost.

The cameras are being installed at Matakana, Dairy Flat, Redvale, Whitford, Karaka, and Glenbrook, with testing starting in December.

Episode 52 - Safe Backing & Parking (ft. Bill Young & Cody Vineyard)

In today’s episode, we are discussing some simple procedures and techniques to reduce accidents and injuries when backing and parking vehicles while performing work around the municipality. Our guests today are Bill Young and Cody Vinyard, both from the Risk Management department at OG&E.

Over the past several years OG&E has developed some very simple to implement driving procedures to reduce the risk of accidents that have sustained injuries to workers and claimants, as well as caused property damage to both their company and private property.

OMAG’s hope is that by listening to this podcast your municipality might also implement these techniques to improve your risk of losses due to backing and parking accidents.
