Outdoor Dining, Elective Procedures, &"Safer At Home" During COVID-19

Outdoor Dining, Elective Procedures, &"Safer At Home" During COVID-19

On this weeks episode, we focus on "West Virginia Strong - The Comeback," Governor Jim Justice's plan to gradually reopen the economy. Guests discuss a variety of topics, including the "safer at home" order, elective procedures, drive-thru testing, broadband expansion, and outdoor dining at restaurants.

In segment 1, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice joins us via Skype to discuss elective surgeries, restaurants, and small businesses reopening, saying we have to take baby steps to ensure everyone's safety. He also details the differences between stay-at-home orders and the "safer at home" order he just enacted, and says, above all else, that we can't forget that COVID-19 is still here.

In segment 2, Dr. Sherri Young, Executive Director & Health Officer at the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department and President of the West Virginia Medical Association talks about the impact of elective procedures on both the economy and hospital revenue, restaurants reopening, and the number you can call to schedule an appointment at a Kanawha County drive-thru clinic.

In segment 3, Steve Roberts, President of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce talks about how the governor's schedule to get back to work is translating to a more vigorous, innovative spirit from West Virginians. He also tells us about how, in response to the realization of how crucial broadband access is, the Chamber of Commerce has put together a plan for moving the Mountain state forward.

In segment 4, Deno Stanley, owner of Adelphia Sports Bar and Grille and member of the West Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association tells us all the steps restaurants are taking in preparation for reopening day, including what you can expect to see the next time you decide to outdoor dine.

S1E19: COVID-19 coronavirus in Wisconsin: Week six - protests and counter protests

S1E19: COVID-19 coronavirus in Wisconsin: Week six - protests and counter protests

On Friday, roughly 1,500 protesters gathered on the state Capitol grounds to demand an end to Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ COVID-19-related stay-at-home order. Many attendees criticized the Evers administration for infringing on their personal freedoms and crippling the state economy.

Protesters carried signs with messages ranging from “Quarantine Tony Evers” to “Reopen Wisconsin,” waved American and Gadsden “Don’t tread on me” flags, and broke into chants including “U.S.A.” and “Bring back Scott,” a reference to former Republican Gov. Scott Walker — all while a convoy of vehicles circled the Capitol as part of the demonstration.

Some in the crowd carried firearms, some wore protective masks, and others wore attire or carried signs supporting President Donald Trump.

A few counter protesters were among the melee but an event was organized online to officially counter the in-person gathering and support Evers extension of the "safer at home" order to May 26. The original order was scheduled to end April 24. The socially-distanced, online counter protest drew over 10,000 attendees between Friday and Saturday.

Bible Study Exodus 5 Can we know God's Will?

Bible Study Exodus 5 Can we know God's Will?

We want to find God's perspective in Scripture. This is His house and His rules.

Have you ever been in a situation we don't have control over and feel trapped? God wants us to trust Him for redemption by obeying His Words. He may not get us out right away but the journey will be hard and amazing. We will grow in our faith to obey His word.

In this chapter Moses and Aaron are in Egypt and they are speaking to the oppressed Hebrews that are in real trouble and suffering. With Covid 19 we can almost put ourselves there!

God is coming to the rescue in Exodus 5. This is a pattern in the gospels. They were in bondage to the world system in Egypt and when Jesus was on the scene and Christ said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sins is a slave of sin” John 8:34 So there is a spiritual side to bondage and Egypt is a typology of the world. Sin and obeying are themes in Exodus 5. Who will obey and who will not? But then who is affected by our obedience? We want God in our lives but are we ready to have our commitment to Him challenged? Let's take this lesson of worshiping Him during hard times and ask God for help during trials.

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  John 8:31a-32

And we will be free indeed regardless of our circumstances. Join Ric and Mary Joyner for this interesting and fun show.
