Daisy Jones & The Six: series versus book review

Daisy Jones & The Six: series versus book review

As you know, books bring us together. We thought it would be fun to challenge ourselves to read a book a month so for this episode, we're covering Daisy Jones and the Six - both the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid and the series on Amazon Prime. Speaking of series, the new trailer for The Witcher came out and we have some thoughts (as usual). Have you heard of 'smartphone face'? If not, tune in to find out what it means and share your thoughts on it on our Instagram.

    Into the Daisy-Verse

    Into the Daisy-Verse

    On this week's show, we...

    • nerd out over highlights from last weekend's Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band show in Greensboro
    • spend quality time in the extended universe of Amazon Prime Video's Daisy Jones & The Six
    • enjoy some music from some of our other favorite faux bands

All this & much, much less!

Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is over 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories. The show started in 2003 at WHFR-FM (Dearborn, MI), moved to WGWG-FM (Boiling Springs, NC) in 2006 & Plaza Midwood Community Radio (Charlotte, NC) in 2012, with a brief pit-stop at WLFM-FM (Appleton, WI) in 2004.

Daisy Jones & The Six - Aurora

Daisy Jones & The Six - Aurora

In today's episode, Paul and Becky are reviewing the soundtrack "Aurora" by the fictional band Daisy Jones & The Six from the recent Amazon Prime adaptation of the same name. As big fans of the Taylor Jenkins Reid book, they had a lot of thoughts on these songs and whether or not they hit the brief of being Fleetwood Mac style hits or not!

Come and join us on a retro 70s-inspired journey... Did these songs hit the mark for you??!

A New Twist In Katherine Heigl’s Ongoing Cancellation

    On the show today...

The TV nominees for the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards were announced this week and now there are two celebrated TV shows you need to add to your must-watch list.

Plus, today we’ve been gifted the very first trailer for the highly anticipated new musical-drama series Daisy Jones & The Six, based on the best-selling novel of the same name. At the same time, the rumour mill is churning out some new theories about the two series stars that we need to discuss.

And Katherine Heigl is on the publicity trail for her new Netflix series and during a recent interview, she revealed what was really at the heart of her controversial Grey’s Anatomy exit and the moment she regrets most. It’s a new twist on her ongoing ‘cancellation’ which has become a cautionary tale for other actresses, even if it’s not exactly fair.

Trolls: World Tour, Tigertail, Vivarium, Love Wedding Repeat, Impractical Jokers: The Movie

We may not be allowed to explore the world right now, but a mere quarantine won't stop these Trolls from rocking out. In this action-packed episode of Cinemaholics, we open with an extended Off-Topics section covering all the latest shows we've been watching, including Quibi, for some reason. After a quick PSA, we discuss DreamWorks and Universal's surprise straight-to-streaming sequel, Trolls: World Tour. Then we slow things way down to discuss Tigertail, a new original Netflix drama starring Tzi Ma. Looking for a weird sci-fi indie starring Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots? Look no further than Vivarium. There's also Love Wedding Repeat, another new Netflix movie, but this one is a multiverse rom-com starring Sam Claflin and Olivia Munn. Finally, Will Ashton gets a bit serious for our detailed, practical review of Impractical Jokers: The Movie, based on the truTV show.

    Episode 027 - Charlie's Angels

    Episode 027 - Charlie's Angels

It's a "mo' money, mo' horses" kind of day at Dadgum and Reekus - the boys fight off the evil clutches of hunger as we take a look at Elizabeth Banks's next project: Charlie's Angels.  The debate on the humanity and likeability of Kristen Stewart continues in typical show fashion, the girls have to step in and push the show along.  Also hear about some secondary thoughts surrounding Hobbs & Shaw and a tease for a video show that never happened!

    Show Credits:
    Music by Beat Lab 7
    Artwork by Ally Torelli

    Show Cast:
    Luke "Dadgum" Pettrey
    Gordon "Reekus" Strickler
    Tatum Pettrey
    Maria Strickler

And as always, a special thank you to Ally Torelli for a fresh poster design and joining us for the viewing of this film.  We're not quite sure, but we think that Andy may have liked it a little bit...
