This is definitely one of the more comprehensive episodes of Sarasota SpeaX to date.  We sit down for an incredible interview with Dr. Gary Kompothecras, the man who made a name for himself with 1-800-Ask-Gary, the accident helpline which informed accident victims of their rights, and the opportunity to speak to a doctor and/or attorney.

We talk about Gary’s background, and what eventually brought him to Florida, and how he landed in Sarasota.  Gary also had the opportunity to be a producer for the hit MTV Reality Series, Siesta Key.  You’ll learn how he was able to defy the odds and land the series, when usually 1 in 6,000 submissions get the ‘green light’ to be produced.

Gary also purchased the Crescent Club, in Siesta Key, where he describes it as his “happy place”.  The guys also get into the discussion about Midnight Pass, and the hopes that it will, one day soon, be re-opened.  You definitely want to check out our conversation with Dr. Gary.

There’s just something to someone who’s very well dressed…and Donald Carlson may just be one of the sharpest dressed entrepreneurs in all of Florida.  After all, it’s his business, and led him to found Tweeds Custom Suits & Accessories in Sarasota.  Don took the concept of custom suits, added a bit of ingenuity, and transformed the way people purchase custom suits and attire.  By understanding how valuable people’s time is (especially those who are in the market for high value custom suits), he decided to customize a box truck, and travel to his customers to get them custom fit for their new threads.  In other words, he decided to 'Out-Hustle' the competition.

Don explains how his early years in his father’s dry-cleaning business led him down the path of creating a unique experience for customers to ensure they’re some of the most stylish individuals, anywhere they go.  As the original experience he created through his box trucks began to soar, it allowed him the opportunity to open several storefronts in SW Florida, to maximize the experience even further.

Our guest this week is professional restauranteur, George Wood, owner of Georgie’s Garden Café and Bar George in the University Town Center district, in Sarasota.  You’ll learn more about how George voluntarily dropped out of high school to pursue a career in professional golf, and how that ultimately led him down the path of becoming a successful owner of several restaurants and bars, at just the age of 23!

George explains how his father challenged him to create a series of experiences that would make him more excited about living in Sarasota.  And he even shares some news about future expansion, with some new restaurant and bar concepts that will be debuting in downtown Sarasota very soon.
