    Secretly Frequencies – Cherry Glazerr

    Secretly Frequencies – Cherry Glazerr
Join hosts Tom Davies and the band's namesake, KCRW's Chery Glaser, for an artist interview with Secretly Canadian's Clem Creevy of Cherry Glazerr. Listen as they dive into the beginnings of Clem's career as a solo artist releasing music on Soundcloud under the alias of Clembutt, through the releases of Haxel PrincessApocolipstickStuffed & Ready, and, self-described as "the album I've always dreamed of writing", I Don’t Want You Anymore. Hear about Clem's love for scary ladies, a squirrel suit performance arch, her latest collaboration with Yves Rothman, a story about meeting Reggie Watts at a party, and how the boys playing in bands around town helped spark the fire of Cherry Glazerr. Find meditation in the madness along the way!

The United States vs Wong Kim Ark

The United States vs Wong Kim Ark

Welcome to Season 2, Episode 13! Do you know why people born in the United States get birthright citizenship? Most textbooks point to the 14th Amendment as the reason for this, but the U.S. vs. Wong Kim Ark ruling solidified this right. In this episode, we discuss the history of this landmark ruling and also share some positive current events. In our second segment, we bring back What Are We Listening To? We talk about the podcast They Call Us Bruce as well as new music from Raveena and SASAMI. Gotta Wash Before You Dry (feat. SASAMI, Musician)

Gotta Wash Before You Dry (feat. SASAMI, Musician)

SASAMI is a visionary singer-songwriter and musician who has been described as “a Satanic Brian Wilson.” Aka the vibes are immaculate. She joins us to unpack toxic positivity and LA, and why more people could benefit from Korean-mom approved toxic negativity lol. SASAMI also gives us a peek into her upbringing in the Unification Church. Check out her forthcoming album Squeeze on Feb 25! Follow her at @sasamiashworth! Support us on Patreon!

    Episode 154: My Friend Sasami

    Episode 154: My Friend Sasami
Sasami Ashworth grew up as a quiet achiever. She pursued music only on her own terms, and even when she ended up in a touring band it was as a side player. It's only in the last 18 months that Sasami has finally emerged in the spotlight as a singer-songwriter in her own right. Her debut self-titled album is a thing of vulnerability and resplendent indie-rock beauty, indebted to the likes of Liz Phair and The Breeders and yet quintessential enough to forge its own identity. In November 2019, Sasami arrived in Australia for her second visit and her first national support in support of Spacey Jane. Before a show in Wollongong, Ashworth (and perhaps a special guest) spoke openly about piano lessons, touring with Cherry Glazerr and meeting Debbie Harry.

Thanks to Gabrielle Ryan, Lucy Buckeridge, Domino Records, the University of Wollongong and Adam Buncher.

    Episode 415: Sasami

    Episode 415: Sasami

On today's episode I talk to Sasami Ashworth. Raised mostly in Los Angeles in a religious household, Sasami has been making music in the LA area for over a decade. This includes playing French horn in orchestras and studios; playing keys, bass, and guitar in local rock bands like Dirt Dress and Cherry Glazerr; and contributing vocals/string/horn arrangements to studio albums from artists like Vagabon and Wild Nothing. But only recently has she started to record music on her own, and her debut self-titled album was released earlier this year on Domino. It's fantastic!
