John Peter "Jay" Semko is a singer/songwriter and bassist with Canadian band, The Northern Pikes. He is also a music composer for numerous film and television productions, most notably the successful Canadian television series Due South. Semko has been nominated for a Juno Award eight times as a member of the Northern Pikes, and also been nominated twice for a Gemini Award, and once for a Canadian Screen Award, and received two awards from the Canadian Music Publishers Association for his songwriting. The typewriters lined up at Thom Cholowski's home resembles a display in a museum. These are a few of the machines he has restored and hopes to sell at a pop-up shop at a stationery store on the weekend.

Cholowski has about 80 typewriters at his home in Saskatoon, but he's not a collector — he's one of only a few typewriter repair people in North America.

Collective Voice is an integrated Grade 9 program combining the subjects of Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Arts Education. The focus of the program is learning in community, investigating the roots of inequality and injustice, and empowering students to find their voice and share it!

Collective Voice students share their learning with Saskatoon in two ways: a weekly thirty minute radio show on Saskatoon’s community radio station CFCR 90.5 and a weekly column in The Star Phoenix newspaper and online blog. Other highlights include a collaborative and democratic learning environment and out-of-school experiences, including a week-long out-of-province trip.
