Season 4, Episode #48~Halycon Days Ending Soon...

The December mini-summer" has come and gone.  Highs in the 60's with freezing mornings right around the corner.  Was nice while it lasted!

Blind Hog now has the "sinus crud" and both he and Acorn are leaving a trail of tissues...  Well, Acorn prefers bandanas over tissues..  NeilMed squeezy bottle sinus rinsers have save the day.  Costco special.  Muy bueno!

Little goats have been worked over, looking good.  Garden has been mulched, more tulips planted.  Acorn tried out the sourdough English muffins- perfect result.  Also whipped up some cinnamon rolls- two dozen in the freezer, unbaked.  Had to bake up eight though to give them a test.

Blind Hog says he cannot judge the batch with just one small bun...

Season 4, Episode #26~ Junior Constable Mouser, Reporting for Duty...

Season 4, Episode #26~ Junior Constable Mouser, Reporting for Duty...

Blind Hog and Acorn have another feline in the pig barn/ chicken coop... A little blonde kitten that is probably male...  Maybe...  Sgt's Inky and Boots can show him the ropes.

Selling goats during a low price slump, waiting for rain, and going on a diet of all things.  Talk about a variety of woes!

Acorn does love a good breakfast though...  Arroz con pollo, beans, tortilla, fruit... Put that fried egg on top and all is right with the world!

Season 4, Episode #19~Mower Ins and Outs...

Season 4, Episode #19~Mower Ins and Outs...

Blind Hog and Acorn started off the week by getting a really good deal on a battery powered riding mower, saving $2K off list price, only to find out that yes- it did have a serious problem and so they got it back to Tractor Supply within 24 hrs (almost) for a refund.  Seems it had a problem with the first owner who returned it and the problem did not duplicate itself for the store  manager.

After much decision making, a zero-turn will be delivered to the farm on Wednesday... Yay!

Sam the Farmdog just dispatched a huge male groundhog- he is still panting and a bit of blood is still coming from where the ferocious whistle pig got ahold of poor Sam's tongue!

Hot, humid, but getting much needed rain in nice slow amounts- no drastic flooding involved.

Scored a nice dining table with 8 chairs via FaceBook Marketplace... $100... Sold!

Time for a cold beer and to give Sam a treat...

    Season 4, Episode #15~ Triplets

    Season 4, Episode #15~ Triplets

The final kidding of the season happened and wouldn't you know, TRIPLETS! Momma is a trained professional, and the three should do just fine.

Lil' Honkers are growing and took their first bath today- one was acting just like an adult goose in the water- head down, water up over the back and flapping of wings.

Sam caught a squirrel this morning and ate it for "first breakfast..."  Came in later and had "second breakfast" that was already poured for him...

Grass is so green.  Lilacs so lovely. Happy April...

Season 2, Episode #31~ Acorn Made a List!

Season 2, Episode #31~ Acorn Made a List!

Yes, Acorn made a list of most of the things accomplished to talk about for the podcast. She did leave off filling 350 lbs of mineral mix into all the livestock feeders.  They had the mill put the mix in 25 lb bags instead of the 50 lb. bags Blind Hog was carrying when the tore his calf muscle.  Blind Hog said Acorn was handling those 25 lb bags quite nicely, while he sat in the truck with this foot on the brake.  Yes- we do not trust the parking break on the F3509.  That is Acorn's task tomorrow...

First eight of the Cornish Cross chickens are processed, along with the three cockerels who were twice their age but half their size.  The remaining "piggie chickens" will be processed when they run out of feed.  75 lbs of feed remain...

Acorn picked chanterelle mushrooms, sauteed them in butter and put them in the freezer for future feasting.  Bees are doing super, two hive splits are thriving.  Momma cows are ready to be bred for spring calves.  They will get back with the bull Fintan once the last of the 2021 kids go to market, in a week and a half.

Fields are doing super, best grass out there in several years.

SteelMeadow Farm has a new goat plan- going with registered Savanna bucks which means the current unregistered Savanna bucks have to go.  Fred has already found a new home.  George is yet to find his.  Not only were they were both unregistered but they also had more than two teats.  Acorn says no to supernumerary teats of goats.  Period!

Rain to move in and a cold front with it.  Hot damn!  Drunk Uncle ukulele provided the podcast's noodling in the background.  Play it loud and play it proud!
