    Episode 31: Slayer vs Anthrax

    Episode 31: Slayer vs Anthrax

About time the other half of the big 4 go head-to-head!
Slayer - Reign In Blood collides with Anthrax - Among The Living and the recurring theme the further Jason and Imran dug when exploring these albums was undeniable thrash. They recruited their old friend, Ben, for his fifth battle to fill some massive gaps in both their musical radar, and give him the platform to spend an hour and a half to geek out on the music that makes him geek out the most. And perhaps find a winner along the way.

Ep. 106: Merry Rock n' Punk n' Metal Christmas!

Ep. 106: Merry Rock n' Punk n' Metal Christmas!

Spike your eggnog, hop on your sleigh, and take a ride with us to Christmas land! This ain’t the Bing Crosby Christmas Special though! This is Christmas the way we like it; featuring the finest rock n’ punk n’ metal we could find under the tree. Put your reindeer horns in the air and bang along with the boys as we celebrate the Holiday season the InObscuria way!!!

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or grouping of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we stray a bit from our standard rigor because… well, because it’s the end of 2021 and we just feel like spreading some Christmas cheer in another otherwise gloomy year. We hope everyone’s families are safe, and that you are able to take some time to kick back and rock with us! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

But did you also know he is a legend in the underground grindcore scene as well becasue of his work in Brutal Truth.

Ep. 51: Grave Mistake: MOTHER SUPERIOR Shoulda Been Huge!!!

Ep. 51: Grave Mistake: MOTHER SUPERIOR Shoulda Been Huge!!!

This episode is obviously rooted firmly in our Should Have Been category. Mother Superior may be the most obscure band that we’ve covered on a “Grave Mistakes…” episode yet. They may be recognized for their name from a Rollins Band or Motor Sister perspective, but their full discography as Mother Superior has been lost on most and needs some love! We hope we turn you on to this amazing rock n’ roll force!

    Songs this week include:

    1. “Can You Hear Me?” from Heavy Soul Experience Of Mother Superior (1996)
    2. “Got A Thing About Yout” from Kaleidoscope (1997)
    3. “Cool Cool Breeze” from Mother Superior (2001)
    4. “Strange Change” from Sin (2002)
    5. “Fuel The Fire” from 13 Violets (2004)
    6. “This Song Reminds Me Of You” from Moanin’ (2005)
    7. “Left For Dead” from Three Headed Dog (2007)
    8. “Beg Borrow Steal” from Grande (2008)

59 - Next Thing you Know You're Learning the Ukrainian National Anthem.

59 - Next Thing you Know You're Learning the Ukrainian National Anthem.

The best metal podcast from the worst metal town returns with discussions on what we've been listening to which includes Zeal and Ardor, Wodensthrone, and a lot of Finnish death metal. The gang discuss and react to news that Spotify CEO David Ek says bands don't release music often enough, Scott Ian thinking bands should have to be up front about using pre-recorded tracks live, and the members of Immortal fighting over rights to the band name again.

In a new segment, "Covers Worth Covering" it is a Alice in Chains themed discussion featuring the panel talk about Opeth's cover of "Would," Suicide Silence's cover of "Them Bones" and Khemmis recent cover of "Down in a Hole."

The Episode concludes with a measured discussion about Ukrainian black metal band Drudkh and whether their mysteriousness is an attempt to hide dubious leanings.
