    Screen Free Week Resources

Screen-Free Week is an annual invitation to play, explore, and rediscover the joys of life beyond ad-supported screens. During the first week of May, thousands of families, schools, and communities around the world will put down their entertainment screens for seven days of fun, connection, and discovery.

Even though it’s about turning off screens, Screen-Free Week isn’t about going without – it’s about what you can get! An hour once dedicated to YouTube becomes an hour spent outside; ten minutes whiled away on social media turn into ten minutes spent doodling; a movie on a rainy afternoon is replaced by time spent reading, chatting, or playing pretend!

You can celebrate Screen-Free Week at home, in your school, in your community, or anywhere – just put down those entertainment screens and do literally anything else! You might be surprised at what you find.

Screen-Free Week! A Conversation with Jean Rogers, Director of the Children’s Screen Time Action Network

Screen-Free Week! A Conversation with Jean Rogers, Director of the Children’s Screen Time Action Network

Screen Free Week, May 3-9, 2021, is the Children's Screen Time Action Network’s annual celebration of unplugging, reconnection, and joy. They’re celebrating differently this year because screens have become the only means of connection for so many of us. But maybe that’s all the more reason to focus on this area of our lives?

In our interview with the Action Network's Director, Jean Rogers, she makes sure we understand they’re not suggesting we all become luddites. They’re not trying to unplug us and our kids altogether. The idea is to increase our awareness of screen time so that we can build our discernment muscles and make sure the kids in our lives are building theirs as well.

Episode 3: Every Parent a Teacher with Brook Wolcott

Episode 3: Every Parent a Teacher with Brook Wolcott

You've heard it before - kids are like sponges, soaking up what's all around them. If that's the case - you're teaching constantly. Are we being mindful, and intentional about what we are teaching? In this podcast Brook and I share a handful of ideas we've been thinking about and learning as parents...and parents who teach. How can we be fully present and attentive around the children in our lives? What would happen if we put our screens aside and played a game? Read a book? Made some playdough? How are we provoking learning in the lives of children we interact with? Let us know what works for you and the children in your lives. Let us know questions you are thinking about so we can join you in that conversation on a future episode!

Episode 24: Creating Family Memories Around the Dinner Table

She has an amazing dinner time game called Togather that will help us do just that! It's time to come back to the table, reconnect and have meaningful conversations with those we love most!
