How could a man of God stand so strong against incredible odds and then creator and run from a woman’s threats? Often times we battle discouragement and depression. This message hits on dealing with these down times.

1 Kings 19. Fear. Depression. Disappointment. Loneliness. Feelings of failure. We experience these things, but somehow don’t realize that the heroes of the Bible experienced them too. Elijah certainly did. "Elijah was a human being just like us,” the Bible declared (James 5:17). Through Elijah's story we will learn how to make it through our own grueling emotional trials.

We look at Elijah's response to queen Jezebel's threat on his life, and what caused Elijah to have such a set back after a great victory with the fire coming down from heaven and burning up the alter and sacrifice, as well as the rain that came after 3 1/2 years of drought. We also have encountered set backs like this, though maybe not as grand. How do we come back from them? How can I recognize that I could be set up for such a set back? Is there something I can do to prevent this in my life? All this and more is found in 1 Kings 19.

Life can be so depressing sometimes. After Elijah's great victory over the prophets of Baal, he falls into a great depression - even to the point of wanting to die.
