And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets. Hebrews 11:32

The most meaningful kind of life begins NOT when we focus on "our story" but when we enter into a bigger story that begins with creation and continues today. Our story takes on deep meaning when we enter into God's story.

Veterans Day is a time that we honor those who have served in our armed forces. Pau,l speaking of some of the spiritual warriors that had proceeded him, felt a need to tell of their heroism and accomplishment. Yet he felt he did not have enough time to speak about them and to give them the proper honor that was due them because of their heroism and service.

One of metaphors used in Scripture to describe the Christian life is that of a race. There are times when the running is easy and there are times when the running hurts. When the pain starts the greatest temptation is to quit to ease the pain. However, we have to recognize that quitting when it hurts will always prevent us from finishing the race. We have to be able to deal with the problem of pain if we want to finish the race set before us. How do we do that since this is easier said than done? That's what we're going to talk about today.

Once again, Dr. Sams examines one of our core values, impact, and contrasts the true essence of it with what our culture would have us believe impact is. Our culture gives credit only to those who break through, those who achieve "success" by leveraging the efforts of many others. But in reality, we all cause impact. We affect each other - for the better and for the worse. The question is one of responsibility: how do we wield this tool of impact? Do we use it for eternal or non-eternal purposes? You are God's indispensable workmanship, and therefore designed for eternal impact. Would you listen, and learn how you can embrace that? It is the gospel, put to work.
