How can I know the genuineness of my faith? I’ve been going through test and trials and I think I have been enduring like James has been speaking to, but I’m still in the trial. How do I know if I am genuinely standing in faith or just stuck in a bad place? Wouldn’t it be great if we could go through a self test to see? Well, James tells us how to do it as we take on the rest of chapter 1 beginning with verse 19 in tonight’s midweek service.

If we're going to live to know Jesus and make him known, James gives us some direction on how to do that as we Listen First, Clean House, and Act Righteously.

1. Ungodly talk coming out of us

2. Going through the motions of being religious

B.  Signs of True Religion (v.27):

1. Actions demonstrating justice (Love People)

2. Behaviors demonstrating holiness (Love God)

Take Home Truth:

True religion loves God, loves people, and serves the world.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
