The very Word of God came to dwell among His very own creation, He lived a sinless life, died the death that we deserved, and rose from the grave. There are many things in this world that are precious and good. We think of the people in our lives: our spouses, our children, our friends. We think of the value of medicine to heal and technology to ease, of governments to promote freedom and books to impart knowledge. But Jesus is better, far better, than all these. Today, as we end John’s prologue to his wonderous Gospel, we hear of the wonder of Jesus, for he himself is the most precious, best, and most awesome thing to behold in all of the world.

'Gonna find out who's naughty or nice...' Every year parents, teachers and older siblings use the all-seeing judge Santa to get better behavior out of kids. Sadly, many people think God acts in the same way--that he rewards good behavior with good things and punishes bad behavior with bad things. Sometimes it's called karma, sometimes rewards and punishment. Every other religion in the world operates on this basis. Every religion except Christianity. In this Christmas Eve message learn how the birth of Jesus demonstrates that God is not Santa Claus.

We are told that Jesus came "full of grace and truth." If that weren't the case - that he was full of grace AND truth - he wouldn't be the complete savior we so desperately need.
