An overview of Jesus' prayer in John 17 - Glory - who He is and what He does

Jesus, as a human being: He completed his mission for us. He manifested the Father to us. He prays for us. He keeps and protects us. His words give us joy. So he set himself apart for us. He will share his glory with us. So we can experience some of the unity he shares with the Father. And live with him forever. We are to live in love as he does. You were born a specific person, for a specific purpose, and you were born again a specific person, with a specific purpose.

In a season of disconnection and isolation, community is vital. The church can provide an excellent opportunity to help people stay connected. Since Jesus's main work was relationship with people, we too, should make it our main work.

Jesus modeled the perfect prayer life by which His followers were not only inspired by His unhindred communion with God by they also experinced the benefits of His intercession. Jesus prayed that His followers would be kept from the evil one, that they would be sanctified by truth and that they would be unified. This prayer not only included the disciples who were with Christ physically while he was on earth but Jesus also included those who would believe in His prayer recorded in John 17. This includes those of us who are Christ follwers in the 21st century. May you be encouraged by the truth that Christ has prayed for you and is at this very moment interceding on your behalf.
