Paul begins to wrap up his letter with calling these people his joy and his crown. What does he mean by this? What crown are we racing toward?

In the 60's, war protesters said, "Peace, man!" In the 70's the Eagles sang about a "peaceful, easy feeling." In the 80's and 90's, the church sang about "peace like a river." But, what is peace to you? Every human being desires peace but where does it come from and how do we access it? Pastor Chris Kipp teaches on the Christ-shaped living that brings cross-purchased peace from Philippians 4:1-9.

When we become disciples of Jesus, we put on "a wedding garment", meaning we adopt Jesus' life and his way of life. We often lose our focus and sometimes are distracted, take Jesus for granted or in other ways choose to take off that wedding garment, i.e. we stop living as Jesus taught; we stop truly believing in Jesus and his teachings. Keeping the wedding garment on, we continue in the joy of life of Jesus, described as a wedding banquet. As Paul writes: Rejoice in the Lord always...let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything...and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
