The Good Life - Psalm 1

The Good Life - Psalm 1
In this sermon, Brian Durham gives us a glimpse of the good life that the psalmist describes for us. He explains how the good life is attainable and how one can get there through a relationship with God by His word in which He has revealed Himself and His ways. The person who is on the path of the good life experiences joy, stability and fruitfulness though they may also go through difficult times as well. The psalmist describes that person as a "tree planted by streams of waters" that bears fruit in season and flourishes in life.

    Awe - Audio

    Awe - Audio
Recent research has drawn attention to the importance of awe in our lives. Dr. Hughes received a prophecy twenty years ago, that awe of the Lord has been replaced by the awe of self. Awe will either draw us toward or move us away from something. Scientists have discovered that awe has a physical effect on us. It changes the nervous system. It causes goosebumps and reduces inflammation. Awe also has a cognitive and emotional effect. The feeling of awe brings us into a place where we can compare ourselves to others. It helps people feel a connection to humanity. I can improve a sense of satisfaction and dampens the feelings of materialism. When we are in awe of Him, we lose touch with our world and get in touch with His world. An awe of God changes everything about our life. Unfortunately, the prophecy that Dr. Hughes received twenty years ago is coming to pass. Too many no longer have an awe of God. Man has begun to replace awe of God with the awe of his own accomplishments. We must get our eyes off of people and get them back on Him. It is time to return to an awe of God.
