In The Divine Conspiracy, Dallas Willard poses a question that many Christians may have had: "It is good news to know that when I die all will be well, but is there any good news for this life? If I had to choose, I would rather have a car that runs than good insurance on one that doesn't. Can I not have both?" Is the resurrection of Christ Jesus a historic event that just gives us hope for the future? Paul reminds us that the resurrection of Jesus has freed us now from the power of sin.

Baptism is a sign of our new life in Christ

Jesus' resurrection means that those who place their faith in the fact that He died for our sins and offers us forgiveness will also be raised. But that is just part of what that means to us. It has everything to do with how we live our life today. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in us from the moment we accept what He did for us. That power frees us from enslavement to sin and enables us to be God's instruments in the world.

"Since we are innocent from sin we should do our best to live innocent from sin." Sometimes life makes us feel like losers. It can seem like we will never overcome our struggles, our sorrows, or our sins. Romans 6-8 tells a different story. It tells us that through God's victorious love we can be conquerors, and more.
