When Christopher Jefferies caught the glassblowing bug in high school, he charted a course that would ultimately result in building his own glass shop by "paying his dues." From working on Dale Chihuly's team to sleeping on the floor of a Czech hot shop, Christopher immersed himself in the fast-paced environment of production glass studios that created hundreds of pieces daily. Once he launched his own studio, his work evolved into multiple-element wall installations on a large scale. The Whitcomb's are both artists working on their own bodies of work in different mediums. Each captures elements of the past presented with a contemporary eye. Mick Whitcomb https://www.artifactsbynomad.com/ is fixated on the American Machine Age and the advent of electric lighting. He transforms 19th-century machines and scientific instruments into utilitarian sculptures. Paige Whitcomb https://www.paigewhitcomb.com/ creates photos using the traditional method of wet collodion photography with an authentic 19th-century studio camera. She creates tintypes to capture a staged fictional world. Her images are the opposite of modern photography; in a society where anyone can take a picture anywhere, her meticulously staged scenes allow the viewer to see the world through the artist’s perspective, which is often an allegorical view of modern culture.

When  Camille Marchese was hired as the Executive Director for the Coconut Grove Arts Festival https://cgaf.com/, she posed a very important question to the Board of Directors. She asked, "Would you like this to be the biggest party in Miami or the best art festival in the country?" The decision to focus on the art became the benchmark that impacted every decision related to the planning and execution of the festival moving forward. As a young artist in the Montreal art scene, Julia Gilmore http://www.juliagilmore.ca/ discovered that she thrived from interacting with her audience and shifted gears. She formed an indie-punk band where she wrote and performed her original music for many years. Eventually, she discovered that her life lacked something she couldn't identify until the birth of her son. She longed for the tangible creation of her fine art, combined with the interaction of her collectors.  Armed with tubes of oil paint and a palette knife, she began to carve and create paintings that elevate the ordinary prosaic subject matter to a vibrant exuberant level of iconic imagery by using vintage objects to tell a story and make visceral connections with memory and the past. In her artistic view, she paints a world with intense beauty, even in mundane everyday objects. Her artwork re-examines the temporal world around her in a direct, straightforward joie de vivre expression of vivid color and gestural texture that reaffirms her zest and love for life.

Joachim Knill http://www.joachimknill.com/ describes himself as a conceptual artist who, once his idea comes into focus, becomes a slave to completing his vision. The individual pieces he creates fit into his installation narrative. Where some artists make a booth to display their work for sale, Joachim builds an entire installation where the viewer, knowingly or not, steps in and becomes part of the overall experience.

Trés & Helene Taylor https://www.trestaylor.com/ took a leap of faith in 2019 by relocating to Selma, Alabama, to further civil rights activism through their art. As they stood in the doorway of their home for the first time, they both cried, but for very different reasons. Helene expressed tears of joy, but for Trés, it was fear.  In this episode, the Taylors share the "signs from the universe" that have directed them along the way, even during the difficult times when facing their mortality. These signs have served as encouragement to hop on that "magic carpet ride" and not look back.
