Ep. 129 Shauna Pilgreen - Translating Jesus to the Culture Around Us

Ep. 129 Shauna Pilgreen - Translating Jesus to the Culture Around Us

In this episode, Shauna Pilgreen and I have a conversation around topics and themes from her latest book Translating Jesus. We talk about how to be translators and speak of Jesus in a way that culture can understand. We talk about being curious, paying attention, and being intentional to listen to the Holy Spirit and the person in front of us. She talks about three different spaces where we can encounter Jesus: the gate, the cross, and the table. Join us as we learn how we can start talking to people about Jesus, so that they will start talking to Jesus.

Shauna Pilgreen, along with her husband, Ben, coleads Epic Church, a multiethnic congregation in the heart of San Francisco. She serves on the teaching team at Epic and as a network director for Alpha USA. She writes for "everyday evangelists" on her blog. Learn more at www.shaunapilgreen.com.

71 The Unlock Moment Box of Keys #13: Finding Your Fit

71 The Unlock Moment Box of Keys #13: Finding Your Fit

My wife and I were sitting down with two sleepy dogs tonight and working on completing the jigsaw we’d started a few days ago. A pretty scene of Venetian canals at sunset, we’d decided that in this cost of living crisis, buying a jigsaw of Venice was a better use of our bank balance than a week on the Grand Canal.

In the last few months I’ve been working with several clients on figuring out how they fit in a leadership team when they don’t fit the traditional mould.

Hovering a jigsaw piece over the puzzle, I’d been staring at that Venetian gondola for a while trying to figure out how it all went together. Then I realised that I didn’t have my jigsaw piece the right way round. A quick 180 degree spin and suddenly the picture slotted into place.

    Kingdom Work: Activating Communities

    Kingdom Work: Activating Communities

By dreaming of the impossible-made-possible with an emphasis on mentorship, Anthony Meyer's innovative approach to leaving a legacy enhances his Kingdom Work. Anthony's unconventional path to ministry and peacemaking allows him to understand peoples' needs and struggles while he's pouring into them. He sees the future of the Church in corporate spaces, not necessarily in churches on the weekend, because people live most of their lives outside church walls. He challenges himself and others to activate our communities through listening, thinking, and asking differently while bringing Biblical principles into the workplace. We learn about honor, respect, and integrity on Sunday, but are we applying and bringing these principles to the workplace on Monday?
