    POCAS PERO LOCAS

    POCAS PERO LOCAS

In this episode, AGG and Sergio become honorary members of Myriam’s gang: P.P.L. Myriam discusses the history of Creep, her incredible memory, embracing slut terminology, who she wants to surround herself with, recognizing the beauty and pain that her grandfather caused, the urban legend of Pedro Paramo, and her ability to speak up for others.

*Content Warning: This episode contains discussion of sexual assault and may be triggering for some listeners. Listener discretion is advised.

    About the author:
Myriam Gurba is a writer and artist. She is the author of the true-crime memoir Mean, a New York Times Editors’ Choice. O, The Oprah Magazine, ranked Mean as one of the best LGBTQ books of all time. Publishers Weekly describes Gurba as having a voice like no other. Her essays and criticism have appeared in The Paris Review, Time, and 4Columns. She has shown art in galleries, museums, and community centers. She lives in Pasadena, California.

    About The Book:
Creep is Myriam's second book and is a blistering and deceptively playful genealogy of creeps: the individuals who deceive, exploit, and oppress. In eleven bold and electrifying pieces, Gurba mines her own life and the lives of others - some  famous, some infamous, some you’ve never heard of but will likely never forget - to unearth the toxic traditions that have long plagued our culture and enabled the abusers who haunt our books, learning institutions, and homes.

S3E9 -- UltraMX 515 Race Preview with Van Sanchez

Some people make it to the 515 distance and still don’t find it to be far enough.  Today’s UltraMX 515 Athlete in Profile, Carlos Pena, is one of those athletes.  After previously completing the Mexican 515 race, he took on the non-stop 515 – two times.  He has also completed triple and quintuple long distance triathlon events.

Next up for this man is a Deca in Mexico (10 long distance events in 10 days) and a continuous  Deca in Brazil next spring.

Carlos shares information about his training volume as well as how he adjusts it depending on the event and many other tips about going long.

UltraMX 515 race director, Van Sanchez, joins me in the second part of the episode for a preview of all of the athletes who will be competing at the event from October 28-30th.

Follow the event as it happens from the races Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/ultramx_series/

In the third segment, Michelle Cevicherria, Van’s partner in life and business, joins the conversation to talk about the new Ultra 515 Texas that they are introducing to the world in May 2023.  Stay tuned for race updates at https://www.instagram.com/ultratx515/

Contesting Wrestling Episode 63 - AEW Grand Slam with Sergio the non-fan!

The Contesting Wrestling gang went to AEW Grand Slam and we took a new guy! Ben's friend Sergio (Instagram: @gomdiaz) had never been to a live wrestling event before and had barely paid attention to it in his life so let's get his impression of all the action.

We at Contesting Wrestling are always interested in getting impressions from those who aren't otherwise soaked in pro wrestling and Sergio does not disappoint. We saw all the big AEW stars, and he has no idea who any of them are. Maybe Sting.

If you enjoy Contesting Wrestling, consider subscribing to our Patreon! We get 2-4 extra episodes out a month, time permitting, at the $5 tier so you can get as much contesting as you want! www.patreon.com/contestingwrestling
