This answers the question, why did Jesus come into the world? He came for life and light. The Light shines in dark places, but the world loves darkness and doesn't believe it's in it. The gospel confronts you in your sin. John the Baptist, as an Old Testament apostle, was sent out to bear witness of the light. Jesus is the true light and we need to receive him and completely believe in him, then we have the right to eternal life.

Jesus is true light... for every single person. He came to the world (cosmos- listen to the sermon for great insight on this root word as well as many others) so that each of us could receive that light.

Prairie View Christian Church

Jesus, when he was here on earth, had a mission. He made disciples so that they could continue to make more disciples. We, who follow Jesus, therefore should be “Getting Out There” to share about Jesus to others. For us to be effective, we should invite Jesus to come too.

From John 2:1-11, when we invite Jesus to the party:

1. When problems or challenges happen, we can bring them to Jesus. (v. 3)

2. When Jesus is actively working, he will use us to serve alongside him in the work. (v. 7)

3. When Jesus shows his power and glory, we will enjoy that transformational power in us too. (v. 9-11)
