    Sexual Health Therapy

    Sexual Health Therapy

LT sits down with certified sex therapist, Sarah Watson LPC, to talk about sexual health therapy. Sarah works with individuals and couples struggling with infidelity, desire discrepancy, and other challenges that people may not feel comfortable talking about with a regular therapist. Sarah walks us through how to get back into the swing of things after lack of effort in the pleasure department, the recommended amount of intimacy with your partners (or yourself!) and how scheduling sex in the calendar is the way to go. She also tells us about her great program to prepare caregivers and parents on how to approach sexual health as a pivotal and ongoing conversation throughout a child’s life.

Science, Inclusion and Evolving Sex Ed

Science, Inclusion and Evolving Sex Ed

Did you know that ONLY 24 States, plus The District of Columbia, require that sex education be taught in schools - and many of these States DO NOT regulate whether the curriculum taught is medically accurate, let alone inclusive and relevant to modern times.

In this episode, Dr. Tammy talks with Microbiologist, Geneticist and Sex Education Activist, Dr.  Amanda Freise about science, inclusion and why we should be teaching comprehensive sexual education to young children through adulthood.

    Guest Bio
Amanda Freise, PhD is the Director of Research for the Center for Positive Sexuality, a sexuality educator, and a lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she teaches in the department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Human Genetics. As a UCLA faculty member, Amanda created and facilitates the Women in Bioscience community group, a support circle for discussion of gender-related issues experienced by women in the sciences. In addition to teaching and community-building, Amanda is also a curriculum development consultant and science communicator. She developed the SciComm 101 series of workshops to train scientists in communicating science more clearly, and co-founded Signal to Noise Magazine (an online science outreach publication) to create opportunities for graduate students to practice writing for a lay audience. Amanda is the recipient of UCLA's Distinguished Teaching in the Life Sciences award, and is passionate about mentoring others. Twitter: @amandafreise
