The first small group tour happens June 16-28, 2024. And we're going to Alto Adige (South Tyrol) Italy! Wine, food, hiking, Novacella Abbey and the stunning Dolomite peaks. Hope to meet you there!

Do you have a travel bucket list?

Maybe you have a specific Europe travel bucket list?

    I always have a list.

In fact, in February of 2023 I put out an episode about this very topic.

    But things change.

So I think it's a good idea to revisit your Europe travel bucket list each year.

Maybe you actually were able to cross some places off your list.

Perhaps you've added some new destinations (of course you did!).

Maybe you've shuffled some spots around as certain places have become more of a priority.

Now I get it that some people don't like the idea of a "bucket list".

So maybe a better term is a "wish list".

Whatever you call it, I truly believe in dreaming big when it comes to travel.

You can make your travel dreams come true (and I can help)!

So what's on your Europe travel bucket list?

Send me a message at Lynne@WanderYourWay.com and let me know!

Karben4 Featuring Chris Murphy - Artist. Sculptor. Electrician.

Karben4 Featuring Chris Murphy - Artist. Sculptor. Electrician.

Passion. Hard work. Gun toting cats atop flame nostriled unicorns. This is Karben4 Brewing in Madison, Wisconsin.

Join Ryan, Zak and Joe, along with special guest, Chris Murphy - affectionately called "Murph". Chris is a Master Electrician, artist, sculptor and world traveler and the stories he has about working with breweries all around the world is fascinating!

Chris and Ryan met in 2013 when Chris left his business card at the K4 taproom. Fast-forward to K4 having a temperature control issue and Chris got a call. 10 years later and the K4 guys still love working with Chris, saying he not only has an extraordinary electrician, he revels in things looking beautiful too (his artist side perhaps!).

This week was the Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville, TN, so we covered CBCs past and the memorable time that it is - Boston, San Fran, to name a couple past host destinations.

Have you ever heard of the 'Fire Festival' in the Shetland Islands? You have now!

Chris runs Paleoelectronics and his artwork can be found at myowndevices.org.

Enjoy this episode, and we'll see you in the K4 taproom!

    Lynne's Europe Travel Bucket List

Do you have a travel bucket list?

Some of us — like me — have a very long list.

Even my Europe travel bucket list is extensive.

But I made myself whittle it down to 10 destinations and experiences.

I have some amazing destinations on my list such as Iceland and visiting the Christmas markets in Germany.

If you have a Europe travel bucket list, get it out so we can compare.

    Don't have a list?

Perhaps my Europe travel bucket list will inspire you to create yours.

Want to chat more about any of these destinations or bucket list travel in general, then send me a note a lynne@wanderyourway.com.

Fleece Rugs, Sheep, Heritage, and the Shetland Islands with Helen Hart

Fleece Rugs, Sheep, Heritage, and the Shetland Islands with Helen Hart

#026.  -- In this episode I chat with Helen about some of the traditional crafts she's involved with, how she became involved in them, and what draws her to them. We talk about keeping sheep, natural dyes, fair isle knitting, burning peat, the fleece rugs she makes, and so much more! Like many of us she is a dabbler in many traditional crafts, with a passion for learning about heritage crafts-- in particular those from the Viking era.

Oh yes, and I also spend way too much time asking about the Shetland Islands. . . =) I didn't know much about them and Helen was gracious enough to indulge my curiosity!

Ep 066: In A Big Country, There is a Little Sheep (meant to be sung)

Ep 066: In A Big Country, There is a Little Sheep (meant to be sung)

    Here’s a list for you:

    -

    Hobbits
    Otters
    Wedding shawls
    Ragnor
    Dogs
    Killer Whales
    Archeological ruins
    Oil
    Puffins
80’s rock bands (okay, this one is a little loose)
    The Ikea catalog
    Ponies

So, what do these things have in common?  This podcast, and the Shetland Islands, way, way (way) North of the North Scotland mainland (Did we mention it was up North?).  In fact, the Vikings - Scandinavians, if you’re politically correct – made a pit stop in the 8th and 9th century on their way to Iceland, and dropped off people and animals to this beautifully remote island chain in the North Atlantic.  One of the many hardy animals that adapted to the lifestyle there over the last 1,000 years is the Shetland Sheep, one of the cutest little animals we’ve seen so far (Paloma the ewe’s tail was wagging like a dog when we met her, and that kept going for anyone that might pet her over the next hour).  With super soft and very fine wool, they are very docile, petite, and thrifty on the feed requirements. This primitive breed is a keeper, especially for those that don’t want a lot of upkeep in the keeping part.  If you’re a textile person, you can spin the finest of shawls with this one, with sheep and wool in practically every Viking color you can think of.

Judy Lehrhaupt is the owner of two flocks of sheep and a few sheep dogs as well, and she not only does the raising, herding and shepherding, but she’s a master spinner and a fleece judge.  Ewe Can Do It is her farm, where she spins/spends her off-time when she’s not teaching school.  We met up with her last Fall at the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival, and hope you enjoy listening to her as much as we did.

The little sheep from the Big Country (yes, couldn’t resist another 80’s music reference).
