G1 and G3 run through the latest Scotties news, and there’s a bunch of topics to discuss. The latest men’s provincial results are in and get digested, as well as the Winter Youth Olympics, championships in Japan and Sweden, an upcoming championship in Alberta, the hunt for the men’s final wild card berth in the Brier, and more.

Lori then spends time with 2018 Olympic champion and U.S. curling ambassador Tyler George, who breaks down the just-completed USA Curling Nationals held in a mammoth shopping mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

A reminder that each episode includes outtakes and other goodies after the closing theme music has played. You don’t want to miss this episode’s extro; it features the second video of the show, plus a stunning example of the talent of G2, aka Mary.

MDs, SNL, Sex Toys and More

Episode 13 of season 7 is a grab bag of curling stuff, ranging from two Mixed Doubles qualifiers—one in Canada and the other in Holland—plus the Canadian Seniors, John Morris and Australia, and SNL on the EasyToys scandal.

And that’s just the beginning. Later on, The Girls discuss STOH puzzles, Manitoba, event cancellations, COVID (of course), the next Slam, Bruce Mouat and Team Shuster aka The Guys Who Get To Do Way Too Much Fun Stuff.

Lori and Mary conclude with a few thoughts on their previous episode, which proved to be incredibly popular.

In episode 25 of season six, The Girls unpack a wild 2021 world men’s curling championship—one of the weirdest, to be sure but one of the best on-ice displays.

The COVID-19 positive test scares lead off the discussion but a wide range of topics are hit, including Canada’s performance (and more about 2G super-buddy Darren), RCF, the playoff matches, TSN’s Canadian TV disappearing act, aggressive social media clapbacks and more.

Thank you for listening and please enjoy the episode. Stay safe!

Episode 43 - Samah & Noam - Oasis of Peace - Palestinian and A Jew

Episode 43 - Samah & Noam - Oasis of Peace - Palestinian and A Jew

I had the privilege and a thrilling experience to meet and spend a few hours with two brave and genuine human beings, Samah Salaime and Noam Shuster from Wahat Al Salam/Neve Shalom/Oasis of Peace.

What is the meaning of co-existence of Palestinians and Israeli.

I am Jewish/Israeli but I was nurtured by Palestinian mothers just like I was nurtured by my own mothers. I can’t celebrate Israeli independence day without recognizing that there is another side to the story of what happened to Palestinians in 1948 in those exact times. It doesn’t contradict or threaten my identity. I think Acknowledgement and recognition are only ways for us to truly live together on this land.”

I like to talk a lot about existence….The Jewish narrative is a very Eurocentric narrative that we are taught about the holocaust and the history of Israel that is very main stream. And the Palestinians have their own history of the catastrophe in 1948 but within in the Jewish context what I didn’t learn in school or even in the environment I grew up in, is actually the history of my mother and my family from Iran. The non European Jewish history, we have a long history of Jews living with side by side with Muslims in the Arab North African Middle Eastern world. The holocaust happened in Europe, it didn’t happen to the Jews living side by side with Muslims, there is thousands of years of shared life , culture, politics, everything, and I think it is a shame, that we are not using this narrative."

    “...oppressed by power.”

    “..we are paying the price...”

"My father is son of a holocaust survivor from Romania, and my mother was born in Iran.”

    Olympic Wrap Up and Review

    Olympic Wrap Up and Review

In this latest episode the girls discuss the results of the Men's and Women's Team play at the Olympics and what happened to Team Canada!?  And will these results cause possible system changes in the future of the Canadian Trial system.  They also discuss is it worth it to chase the Olympic dream these days with all the pressure that is put on the athletes.  Congratulations to all the podium finishers, Sweden, Korea and Japan for the women and USA, Sweden and Switzerland for the men.  How important are these Olympic curling medals to the other countries and what impact will it make to the growth of the game and the future of curling.  Of course, the feel good stories are always a favourite but there's also the news of the OAR Team getting stripped of their bronze medals in Mixed Doubles.  Finally, are the commentators too harsh when it comes to commentating and questioning the curlers?  Enjoy!

Air Traffic Control (ATC) Government Privatization Explained - Call to Action for General Aviation Private and Instrument Pilots and People Planning to Learn to Fly to Contact Congress

Air Traffic Control (ATC) Government Privatization Explained - Call to Action for General Aviation Private and Instrument Pilots and People Planning to Learn to Fly to Contact Congress

ATC Privatization On June 22, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives released H.R. 2997, the AIRR Act, calling for the privatization of Air Traffic Control in the U.S. Later, both EAA, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and NBAA, the National Business Aviation Association, issued an urgent call for members to contact their representatives in Congress to oppose ATC privatization. AOPA, the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association, also sent a call for their members to contact their representations just before we published this show, which is why we weren't able to mention them in the podcast. Please take action by going to govt.eaa.org to generate a letter to your representatives in Congress. Please support my show by checking out my new Patreon Page. You will ultimately find lots of free posts on the page. To kick things off, I just posted a pdf of the Delta Airlines study on privatization, which you can download and read for free now. I've also posted results of an ATC Privatization survey of US pilots conducted of Airplane Geeks podcast listeners in February 2017. Please consider supporting my show with contributions of as little as $2 per month, also at my Patreon page. Today, I’m devoting this entire episode to privatization. I’ll be playing audio clips from the President, members of Congress, Airline CEOs, EAA CEO Jack Pelton, and from pilots in other countries that have privatized their air traffic control system. I’ll also share results of a survey of pilot podcast listeners on privatizing ATC. And to help me, I'm joined by Senior Editor of Flying Magazine, Rob Mark. You can Dictate a listener question from your phone and I’ll try to answer it on a future show, or send an email. Audio Clip sources
