Amber owns Hempalchemy and So Dope NZ, which creates incredible skincare hemp-based products used by All Blacks, Black Ferns, Silver Ferns and other extraordinary kiwis. She comes to the ALTBAYS Show to share her journey on how hemp products helped her family and clients to support skin conditions and much more.

Meet Amber Van Vlerken
Amber is the owner of So Dope and Hempalchemy skincare companies. She moved from Wellington to the Coromandel in 2022 for a change of scenery.
She first started Hempalchemy in 2018. After a long road of skin issues over ten years and medical problems with her kids, Amber began looking into a more holistic approach to alleviating skin issues. She was always interested in hemp because it was a taboo product, which made her more curious.
She started taking hemp supplements and then started using oils on her kids. Over time family and friends started using the oils, and as her kids grew along with her skincare obsession, the products became actual products. The company became a thing, and now her products are sold in shops around NZ, used by Black Ferns, All Blacks, Silver Ferns and other awesome kiwis.
So Dope was born from Hempalchemy; as her kids turned to teens, she realised a massive lack of quality skincare products for young people. Amber wanted to create a branding that appealed to people like her and her family. She worked with Si Omer AKA Cracked Ink, and had input from a good bunch of girls in the scientific world of skin and cosmetics to get the best out of all the ingredients she wanted to incorporate.
