The Denial & The Trial | A Sermon on John 18:15-19:16 | Chad Harms
"Remember how incredibly guilty you are, and how utterly innocent the majestically kings Jesus was, and is, and let that drive you to serve Him with all that you are." Jesus was arrested, tried, denied, condemned, sentenced, reviled, tortured,  crucified, mocked, killed, and buried. He did it so that whoever believes in him can have eternal life. Firm Foundations (Pt. 16) Overcoming Sin – Paul M. Williams

Firm Foundations (Pt. 16) Overcoming Sin – Paul M. Williams

Part 16 – How Do I Overcome Sin?

Perhaps no greater area deserving of our attention is the question posed as the title of this teaching part; “How Do I Overcome Sin?”  Ask the average Christian this question and you’re sure to be greeted with a mixture of responses.  I hear one say, “why are you worried about sin, it’s been dealt with at Calvary; the grace of God has covered all sins, past, present, and future”.  Another, I hear say “didn’t Paul struggle with sin?  The things he wanted to do he didn’t do and the things he desired not to do those things he did; what’s the problem?  Join the club!  If the great Apostle Paul couldn’t gain the victory over besetting sins then how much less us sinners?”

In this sixteenth teaching part, we tackle the issue of overcoming sin head-on, clearing up some of the misconceptions surrounding this matter and providing biblical answers to questions such as; how do I overcome sin?  What does it mean to walk by the Spirit and how does one overcome besetting sins?  May God see fit to use this teaching to bring victory to many lives for His glory!

    Ep 205 – 1 John 2:28-3:10 PT 2

    Ep 205 – 1 John 2:28-3:10 PT 2

This is our second episode looking at 1 John, chapter two, verse 28 through chapter three, verse 10. It’s entitled “The Sinless Sin Less.” And more than just a clever play on words, this title reflects the reality of our new relationship with God made possible through faith in Jesus Christ. We have a newfound capacity to live righteous lives in a world filled with unrighteousness. We can live godly, even when we find ourselves living in the midst of a godless generation. Coming to faith in Christ is about far more than a guarantee of eternal life. That is the culmination of our faith journey. But it begins with the filling of the Holy Spirit and His empowering presence that makes it possible for us to live Christ-like lives right here, right now. But as John will point out, it is all based on our willingness to abide in Christ and allow His Spirit to work in us and through us. Sin is an ever-present possibility as long as we live in these earthly bodies. But we are no longer sinners by nature. We have been given a new nature and a new capacity to say yes to God and no to sin. As long as we abide.

    Ep 47 – Hebrews 9:16-28

    Ep 47 – Hebrews 9:16-28

In today’s episode, we’ll be in Hebrews chapter nine, verses 16-28. It’s called “He Died. We Live” and continues the author’s treatment of the superiority of Christ’s sacrifice. He died so that might live. He gave His life in order that we might be imputed His righteousness and enjoy a right standing with God the Father based on His merit and not our own. And the best part of Christ’s sacrifice is that it not only included His resurrection and ascension back into heaven, it guarantees His return. He is coming back. Not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.

An Exhortation To Holiness (Rom 6) - Paul M. Williams

An Exhortation To Holiness (Rom 6) - Paul M. Williams

    Romans 6

In the mind of many Christians, the only difference between themselves and that of sinners is that they are “forgiven”.  Grace is viewed as an insurance policy in which we can sin now and claim forgiveness later.  Admittedly, whilst many would not be so brazen as to put it in those exact words; the sad reality is that in experience, this proves to be the policy under which many who name the name of Christ live!  Paul begins the sixth chapter of Romans with a question; “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound”?  He spends the rest of the chapter showing categorically that this cannot be the case.  For Paul, the cross of Jesus Christ was more than a place where sins are forgiven but was the place of his own funeral and subsequent resurrection from the dead.  The implications of the mystery that Paul presents in this sixth chapter are so profound and the ramifications so powerful, that if heeded, and acted upon, one’s Christian worldview and experience will never be the same again!

This sermon is a strong exhortation to holiness and a thorough refutation to the lukewarm, sin excusing breed of Christianity that seeks to comfort and assure men in their sin in the name of so-called grace.

Episode 3 - How Perfect is Perfect?

Episode 3 - How Perfect is Perfect?
In this episode Sparks Remieres and I discuss a growing trend of one of two extremes legalism and lawlessness. To be more succinct we go through some of the arguments and dangers of what has been called Sinless Perfectionism. Sinless Perfectionism is the theological position that after Christ saves us we gain the ability to keep the entire old testament law.
