    English society and celebrity photographer Richard Young is self-taught and started experimenting with a gifted Nikon camera on the streets of London in the seventies. Now with a career spanning almost 5 decades, Young has photographed the likes of Kate Moss, Tracey Emin and Sir Elton John as well as publishing four books. With Catherine Fairweather, he discusses his first big break photographing a recently released Paul Getty III and reflects on the immense scope of his career.

    EPISODE 15: Percussionist, Drummer and Vocalist John Mahon has been playing with Sir Elton John since 1997. He has performed over 1600 shows with the superstar, in over 70 countries in front of millions. John was voted #3 Percussionist by Modern Drummer Magazine 2010 Readers Poll. He has recorded numerous albums with Elton John, achieving both Gold and Platinum success and played on BB King’s Grammy Award winning record, “80” BB King & Friends”. As a member of Sir Elton’s band, John has had the honor of playing with such noted artists as Billy Joel, Leon Russell, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Mary J. Blidge, John Mayer, Tina Turner, Cher, Michael McDonald, Barry Manilow, Donna Summer, George Michael and others. Born in Canton, Ohio, John’s early influences are in Jazz, R&B and Pop music - recording and performing all over the Northeast. Moving to Los Angeles in 1983, John quickly became an electronic drum enthusiast, programmer and songwriter while fronting his own band, “The Stickmen”. As a singer and drummer he was the featured vocalist with Smooth Jazz artists Peter White and the band Windows both live and in the studio. He has toured with Al Stewart, Helen Reddy, Rita Coolidge, and on percussion and vocals with Three Dog Night singer Chuck Negron. As a writer and producer John has composed for Jose Feliciano and Ad music for Ray Charles, as well as writing and recording music featured on HBO’s Vice, TLC’s LA Ink and The Hallmark Movies. johnmahon.com
