10 de juny 2010 Avui un peculiar recorregut per treballs on els dissenys de les portades o la música han anat a càrrec d'aquest dibuixant, crític musical i músic britànic. De nom real EDWIN POUNCEY, ha estat un dels grans ilustradors d'àlbums, singles i vinils de música arriscada i underground des dels anys 70. Comencem pels singles "Freak Show" (1977) del grup punk THE LURKERS, per "Lie Dream Of A Casino Soul" (1981) de THE FALL i per l'EP "Headache" (1987) de BIG BLACK. Seguim amb el magnífic treball de guitarra experimental de LEE RANALDO "From Here To Infinity" (1988), pel recopilatori "Nothing Short Of Total War" (1989) amb un tema de SONIC YOUTH, pels singles de grups britànics "She Is Dead And All Fall Down" (1989) de CURRENT 93, "Sinister Senile" (1990) de NURSE WITH WOUND i "Wrong Eye/Scope" (1990) de COIL. Afegim l'àlbum "Xaman" (1990) amb el rock intens de SKULLFLOWER, la contundència de "Blowhole" (1990) de RAMLEH o el folk-psicodèlic de FLYING SAUCER ATTACK a "Mirror" (2000). La passió pel black-metal de SAVAGE PENCIL va aportar portades com la de "Metal Music Machine" (2006) de JAZKAMER, també destaquen els dibuixos sobre vinil de la sèrie de guitarra experimental com "A Final Kiss On Poisoned Cheeks" (2008) d'OREN AMBARCHI i "Keep An Eye Out" (2009) de STEPHEN O'MALLEY. Finalitzem amb dos grups propis del dibuixant com són els punks THE ART ATTACKS amb el single "I Am A Dalek" (1977) i la formació PESTREPELLER de sons inquietants amb "Isle Of Dark Magick" (2005).

Yep. Episode 9 was conceived a little over a year ago, in the wake of 1.) spending one of the most depressing and unsettling 1.5 hours of my life watching Megan is Missing on Netflix Instant and 2.) stumbling across the "You Will Never Find Me" video on You Tube. The former is an above average shot-on-video horror movie using the found footage conceit to document a pair of teenaged girls who end up abducted and murdered after talking to the wrong person on the internet. The second is speculated to have been part of a never-completed ARG but when seen without any context _almost_ looks like a serial killer's anonymous gloat/confession. The combination of the two stuck in my mind, and gave me the idea of a mixtape/podcast that had a vague hint of narrative arc. The end result barely spanned 30 minutes and basically consisted of squiggly monster voices strung together. Editing it into something I wasn't embarrassed by was never going to be easy, and when technical circumstances forced me to switch from Garage Band to Audacity mid-project, the whole thing crossed the line into pain-in-the-ass and I shelved it. After a few months of inactivity the idea of returning to it gained more and more prominence. Almost a year later, I finally got the tone to something I was happy with after adding the Jarboe track (which happily, took the piss out of all the D--A--R--K--N--E--S--S I was otherwise wallowing in) and was able to edit most of the imperfections into something acceptable. The end result is what you have now, which isn't my favorite episode but probably is the one I learned the most doing. With any luck episode 10 won't take 17 months. Talk to you then. - txxt
