Episode 267: Talking Trash with Rafi Kohan

Episode 267: Talking Trash with Rafi Kohan

Rafi Kohan's new book, "Trash Talk: The Only Book About Destroying Your Rivals That Isn't Total Garbage," covers sh*t talking and its relatives: bench jockeying, the dozens, and sledging; as well as its variants from ancient times (think Odysseus and hubris). Rafi discusses the complexity of trash talk in its levels of teasing, threat, trust, and going "too far," but delves further into its effectiveness in competition, or lack thereof. He goes on to explore the research about these psychological tactics, their use in coaching, and the training used to build up mental toughness in the Special Forces. We also have a good laugh about the rivalries between siblings and between the Padres and the Dodgers. A wide-ranging fun episode with something for everyone.

This Is How To Truly Enjoy Winter...

This Is How To Truly Enjoy Winter...

Today we’re heading over to Lucerne in Switzerland to join Marco Thali and Fabienne Zemp from Mount Pilatus.

Mount Pilatus is Lucerne’s landmark mountain.  Standing at 2,182 metres, Pilatus offers her visitors and overnight guests a whole host of winter activities which allow those of us who don’t ski, to enjoy the gloriously clear, crisp mountain air of a snowy winter wonderland with all of the typical Swissness one might expect.

Grab a warm mug of cocoa, sit back, and relax as we head over to one of Switzerlands premier mountain experiences.  This, is how you can truly enjoy a true winter break...in the low season of course....

And you can learn more about Mount Pilatus by visiting lowseasontraveller.com  or indeed pilatus.ch where you will be able to see for yourself the incredible views and vistas which Marco and Fabienne spoke about in this episode.
