    You Won’t Believe What Happened!

If you are a small business owner, you know that sometimes things do always go well from a customer service standpoint.

You are bound to drop the ball and disappoint some customers. You might miss an order, run late, or even offer an overall bad experience. Sometimes you get away with it because your existing customers are patient with you, but this can eventually run you out of business.

Recently, I experienced such an unbelievably bad experience from a new hairstylist that I thought it was a teachable moment for other small business owners.

Listen in to this experience and the three key learnings we can take from this, including what small business owners should do when they let their customers down.

On a side note, we celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary last week. It's been quite a journey full of ups and downs, but if we were to start all over again, we wouldn’t want to do it any other way.

Tune in to hear of the surprise Eddie had for me on our anniversary and why this was one of the happiest moments of my life.

    Key Takeaways:

    - What in the world (03:49)

    - My horrible hairstylist experience (08:53)

    - 3 key learnings from my bad experience (24:01)

    - Our 17th wedding anniversary (29:46)

    - Every successful business/relationship is riddled with failure (33:19)

And She Looked Up Creative Hour Podcast

And She Looked Up was born from belief that creating for a living takes a special kind of person: one part artist and one part businessperson. Some days the artist gets to be in charge, and some days, it’s the businessperson.  And sometimes that can create tension! But tension can be a really good thing - from it comes new ideas, inspiration, and growth.

When you run a creative business you need to keep your “inspiration well” full, your mind and body healthy and your business brain sharp. You also need friends and a community that understand what your days are like.

That’s why And She Looked Up was created - to create a space for Canadian female artists, creatives and makers to come together and share our ideas and stories while growing our creative businesses! Your host Melissa Hartfiel is a designer, illustrator, writer, and photographer with a penchant for vibrant colour. She’s owns three businesses and has been a self-employed creative since 2010. She resides just outside of Vancouver, Canada.

Question, What is the best experience you’ve ever had in your handyman business? For me, it was going from a one man show to the largest handyman company in Georgia in just 7 years with absolutely no financial worries!

Now what is the worst thing you’ve experienced in your handyman business? For me it was the housing market bust in 2008. In less than 3 months, I lost everything… my big beautiful house, my marriage and my once thriving handyman business!

But no problem... I knew how to rebuild. I went back to how I started my company by knocking on doors! Unfortunately, no matter how many doors I knocked on, I could not find enough sustainable work to even pay rent for a one bedroom rental and was quickly facing homelessness.

It wasn’t until then, I realized what got me up to that point, would not be enough to get me to where I wanted to be!

So I ditched my old school tactics and reinvented my handyman business from scratch with better performing, more relevant, and more profitable business systems.

And today, because of having those successful system in place, I’m now the proud CEO of the leading handyman business in the state of Georgia once again.

Even though we may not have the same story, I would guarantee there are specific areas in your handyman business you are struggling with all by yourself, like I did for years…AND you don’t know who to turn for trusted, proven solutions.

Now for the Good News… You don’t have to struggle alone anymore!

My name is Rick E Patterson and I’m The Handyman Business Coach.
