    Stephen Tobolowsky on 'It's a Wonderful Life' & 'Bride of Frankenstein'

    Stephen Tobolowsky on 'It's a Wonderful Life' & 'Bride of Frankenstein'

    All-time great character actor Stephen Tobolowsky might be best known as Ned Ryerson from GROUNDHOG DAY, but his film and television credits number in the hundreds. His thoughtful character choices for today are appropriately iconic -- George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life and the Monster from Bride of Frankenstein. But the real highlight of this episode are Stephen's riveting storytelling and invaluable wisdom about the hidden gifts a seeming catastrophe can bring.

    Terrible that #iran banned for life #weightlifter #mostafarajai for shaking the hand of fellow #israeli competitor #maksimsvirsky at the #worldmasterweightliftingchampionships in #poland last week.  The #iranweightliftingfederation dismissed head coach #hamidsalehinia of his duties too. These tensions unfortunately will never be resolved.
    Thanks for explaining the man in the pic @spacecityscrewballs playing @gulfcoastsugar tomorrow & @partylikearochkind is feeling strong.  Game is at #ballhighschool in #galvestontx #almamater of @mikeevans who should be paid by the @buccaneers NINE straight 1000 yard seasons.  All you could ask for of a player.
    @gatorsfb could be in for a long season.
     @gopherfootball great comeback win over @huskerfootball last night.
    Even I couldn’t stay up for @sundevilfb win over @suufb last night.  4am local time even too late for me.

    #halsteinbrenner lame excuse for staying put at #mlbtradedeadline because too many players traded away in the past.  Says future is exciting.  Not if you have the same people in charge next season.
    @mets already starting the process.
    @drjoe807 @dallascowboys vs @nyjets #superbowl #dakprescott is not that #quarterback unfortunately.

    AI - Two Muslim students on AI and Islamic Teaching

    AI - Two Muslim students on AI and Islamic Teaching

    Artificial Intelligence (AI), on the other hand, is a cutting-edge technology that has revolutionized various industries and aspects of human life. AI is the simulation of human intelligence in machines, enabling them to perform tasks that typically require human cognitive abilities, such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. As AI continues to advance, its impact on society and religion, including Islam, has become a subject of interest and exploration. In this episode we delve into the intersection of Islam and AI, exploring how these two seemingly distinct entities may influence and shape each other in the modern world.

    Islam, one of the world's major monotheistic religions, traces its origins back to the 7th century in the Arabian Peninsula. With over a billion followers globally, Islam is characterized by its belief in the oneness of Allah (God) and the guidance provided by the Prophet Muhammad through the holy scripture known as the Quran. The Islamic faith encompasses a comprehensive way of life, covering spiritual, moral, social, and legal aspects, making it an integral part of the lives of its adherents.

    Networked policy instrument choices for sustainability regulation

    Ecological concerns and climate change have risen on governmental policies around the globe, but regulatory differences between nations may leave gaps - or even work against each other - if not planned deliberately.

    Research led by Associate Professor Ishani Mukherjee at Singapore Management University focuses on the case of biodiesel policy in Indonesia, using policy network analysis to investigate types of relationships between policymakers and between the policies they enact.

    It's so boring - or is it? Examining mindfulness in monotonous jobs

    We all get bored at work from time-to-time, but some jobs are more monotonous than others.

    Over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, mindfulness has been found to be an effective way to improve the boredom associated with remote working. So could boredom during jobs such as working on an assembly line or providing delivery services be improved with mindfulness practices too?

    Prof Jochen Reb at Singapore Management University is part of an international team of researchers trying to understand how we can improve work-induced boredom.

    HOST JACKIE TANTILLO - She Never Got The Chance To Be A Kid With Guest Podcast Host Steve McCurdy

    HOST JACKIE TANTILLO - She Never Got The Chance To Be A Kid With Guest Podcast Host Steve McCurdy

    Steve is a natural as a host. He found his passion for the radio business at the age of six, but wasn't able to fulfill that

    dream till a little later in life.

    As you listen to the wonderful stories Steve shares,  you'll find out that he was raised by both his maternal grandmother and his mom.  "Grandmother was worthless until a crisis. Grandmother was my mother, my light. 'Mother', as he refers to his mom, was my 'dad'-the two women set up  those 'roles'," McCurdy shares.

    You'll hear Steve repeat over and over again how magnificent his mother was -"a powerful, independent woman with a great, great mind, yet she wanted to be wild and crazy and she never really got to do that." Plus, Margie never went to college because any money the family  had went to Margie's brother's wants and needs.

    Margie started working in a local bank  in Texas at 16 and because of her expertise, hard work and dedication over decades of running the Proof Department, she was able to apply for a  program through Southwest Institute Of Graduate Business Studies and SMU. Because she had never gotten and undergraduate degree, she was able to take an exam, passed the test with flying colors, got her undergraduate degree certificate based on her lifelong experience and the exam and became the first person to ever complete a Masters program at SMU without having actually attended college. There is more to this story  as it was taking place in the late 60's and the Civil Rights Movement. Steve's mother made a considerable effort to train the other female employees and not just overlook them because she knew they were intelligent and capable to do any job if trained properly.

    There's so much more to Steve's story. Hope you enjoy this episode of SHLTMM.

    About the host John Lim:

    John Lim has had an unconventional career by Singapore / Asian standards - with several career switches. He started his career in banking before co-founding a laser tag events company. After building the business from ground-up, growing the team to 20+ and running Singapore's largest indoor laser tag center, he joined an early-stage tech startup to lead business development across Southeast Asia. In 2019, he took a leap of faith to join the e-commerce industry, seemingly unknown sector, until a few months later when Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to its knees.

    While John finds himself lucky to have 'survived' the career switches relatively unscathed, he has never forgotten how it feels like to be at the crossroads of your career and life. Now, he has started this podcast - to provide the resources and perspectives he wished he had - and to help you make the most of your career to live your best life.

    Join him as he speaks with unconventional career changers and risk-takers, taps into their experiences and perspectives and discusses all things career. Together, they will provide you nuggets of wisdom, inspiration and actionable insights to start living life on your own terms.
