The Space of the Senses looks at all the personal senses, from your co-worker's strong-smelling office lunch to the volume levels required to be heard and to connect. 

And then we look at the Virtual Space and how we can easily feel that space being invaded online.

Once we understand both these tangible and intangible shared spaces we can learn to build our human connection.

This is a show about friends. Just guys shooting the breeze. Talking about any and everything. Men don’t just have locker room conversation, ladies. A day in the life of the squad, the fellas, dem boys, it’s just us people.

Masks, Social Distancing, COVID-19.  The year that was 2020.  Patients and families taking ever precaution to keep themselves and their kiddos safe.  Healthcare workers, nurses, and doctors putting themselves on the front line and sacrificing their own health for those in their care.  On today's Live, Learn and Play podcast we talk with nurse superhero Amanda Andrews.  You may remember Amanda from our Instagram story featuring Arkansas Children's nurses who went to New York City to help with one of the early outbreaks of the pandemic. Amanda discusses her nursing experience on the front lines in New York, what she learned, and offers a look back to where we where in 2020 and the hope and optimism going into the new year.

#016 - Sean is a coach, consultant, and trainer for nonprofit leaders.  Today, he shares some of his Facebook Fundraising secrets.  Using some of his strategies, some organizations have been able to raise over $10,000 in as little as 30 days.  

One secret is you have to do the work.  The good news is, you likely already have the skills to do this.  If you know how to post on Facebook you can do this.

Sean says that if you have 500+ Facebook friends, you can raise $1,000.  If 10 people in your organization do this, you can raise $10,000.  It only takes a month.

The key takeaways from my discussion with Sean are:  

#1 People are FAR more likely to give, if someone they know and like asks them;

#2 Get people willing to do it, have them invite their Facebook friends, and post daily; 

#3 You will be surprised by the people who donate; AND

#4 Don’t assume someone doesn’t have money to give - don’t be both the buyer and the seller.

Connection is just feeling more important that ever, and this week’s guest does not disappoint on that front. I was lucky enough to catch up with Nurse Abi, who is a most essential activist amidst this pandemic and ever-changing social climate.

Nurse ABi was born and raised in Metro Manila in the Philippines but has resided on stolen Ohlone Land (which is more widely known as Alameda County) for more than twenty years.

She is an essential healthcare worker on the front lines, with more than 12 years of experience as a registered nurse. When she’s not in a medical center, Nurse ABI is a COVID Space Strategist and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Population Health Nursing. She is leveraging her experience, both publicly and digitally to educate well-meaning, at-risk communities to reduce COVID transmissions until a vaccine is available for all.

Nurse ABi provides regular content on Instagram, can be found safeguarding folks from COVID exposure from protests to picnics, and is a not-so-secret admirer of a certain US Health Official, Dr. Fauchi.
