Self-Compassion Series with Dr. Michelle Trias - Part 3: Don't Put Your Self-Worth in Social Media

In this third installment of the 4-part series Self Compassion, Brigitte and Dr. Michelle Trias discuss how our use of social media is causing many of us to have anxiety and depression and what we need to do to counter that.

Research shows that frequent social media users have been shown to have worse mental health than low or no social media users. Social media users that have negative interactions have higher levels of depression and people who use 3 more social media sites are more likely to have anxiety.

Dr. Michelles says that the negative interactions that we have on social media are having detrimental effects on our mental health and we are also often using social media to measure our self-worth, which can lead to anxiety and depression.

She also says that internal self-loathing begins to happen when you are exposed to hateful comments by others on social media.

They offer some simple social media strategies to counter the negative effects and lower anxiety and how to boost your self-worth.

"Remember that the opinion that matters the most is the opinion you have for yourself," Dr. Michelle says.

EP 4: How To Have A Healthy Relationship With Social Media As A Creator With Santi Morgan Garcia

EP 4: How To Have A Healthy Relationship With Social Media As A Creator With Santi Morgan Garcia

Santi Morgan Garcia talks through his journey as a creator and becoming a Social Media Manager at Teralon.

Whilst studying Chemical Engineering at university he had a period of anxiety where he felt like he had to change his path. This lead him to discover the online business of dropshipping, creating visual content and travelling.

Through this journey, he felt a lot of pressure on social media. He was making videos on YouTube and posting photos on Instagram and fell into the very famous comparison trap which slowed down the creative process.

Santi talks through how he coped and what approach he learnt to have to have a healthier relationship with social media whilst still creating content.

Provence to Paris: Fighting for Your Joy and Healing

Provence to Paris: Fighting for Your Joy and Healing

Bonjour! Summer is the season of vacations, and even if you love what you do, we all need space. Every now and again you need a vacation to step back into your center, have ZERO to-do lists (not even a self care agenda) and reset. I went to France with my husband on a delayed honeymoon/1 year anniversary from June 15-25, 2019, and I didn’t open my computer once in 2 weeks! It was lovely. In this episode, I share on how we almost didn't go (it’s a CRAZY story), my thoughts on self care while vacationing, social media anxiety, universal signs, and remembering that everything is figureoutable (thanks Marie Forleo). This trip was everything I needed, and it reminded me that sometimes we have to fight for our joy, but boy is it worth it! I'll wrap up the episode with trip highlights and try to answer the one question everyone keeps asking, which place did I like more?
