Accepting Rejection & Rejecting Acceptance

We’d like to start by thanking Brené Brown for all that she does in the world.

Now that we’ve made that clear, let’s dig into this episode's theme.

In this week’s deep dive episode, we venture into the intricate web of emotions and perceptions tangled up with the ideas of acceptance and rejection. On the surface, acceptance seems like a warm embrace, while rejection can feel like a sharp sting. But as we dive deeper, we realize these two concepts are not only more delicate and intricate than they appear, but they’re also interconnected in complex ways.

These concepts are fundamental parts of our daily experiences and the choices we make. Sometimes they seem inconsequential, but other times they're like mighty sagas that dramatically alter our spirit. Acceptance and rejection can fully alter the way we view ourselves and each other. They can dictate our outlooks, shape our expectations, and transform the way we interact with the world.

Separately and together, these are experiences that forge tremendous amounts of resilience, strength and growth within us. Acceptance is not always a gentle sanctuary. Rejection is not always a merciless life sentence. They represent a specific kind of duality, but they're not always so black and white either. What might seem like two sides of the same coin could actually be more prismatic than you think.

Continuing our monthly astrology series, we're looking at the astrology of August 2023 and filling you in on the planetary movements taking place this month.

August includes a smorgasbord of astrological experiences. Human behavior is complex, and you don't always have to be available for others - not even your best friends or family - but if you consistently shut out other people from expressing their emotions, the implications can be devastating.

Outlook Amusements, Inc. was founded by Jason Freeland and Tim Youd, who met during a “junior year abroad” program at Oxford University during their college years. It's a living archive of the dynamic and spiritual discussions we never anticipate having but regularly receive. No outline, no rulebook, and no holding back. You’ll wander with us to the outer banks of consciousness where untouched treasures always manage to wash ashore.

This ongoing series is the truest essence of our sincere and unfiltered thoughts. It's an authentic expression and nourishment for connection. Fortified by a foundation of trust, we safely share as friends and co-hosts, unbound by fear of judgment or consequence. Some topics may not seem spiritual on the surface, but the dots always connect in the end. The sheer nature of this — an experimental dance with serendipity — is something we view as inherently spiritual in its own right.
